Times Square -Possible Target?

Is anyone wary of the possibility that New Year's Eve - Time Square might be a possible dirty bomb target?

that is the bigest target of em all... of corse it's a target...every year Im scare dfor the hundreds of people... I mean comon.... dont you think it wouyld be perfect target for terrorism? set off some anthranx
or even... that plane.. the british airways one.... on top of the bar... blow up a couple of pilers of that one and let the plane fall....
or they might hichjack a plane and crash it into the people
I just dont like the whole time square thing always spent it as afar from NYC as posible

I don't think it will happen, but...there was supposedly a plot to set off a conventional bomb in TS on New Years 99-00, but the plotters were caught at the Canada border. They were connected to the Bin Laden group.

Obviously, authorities are much more vigilant now than they were then, so if they stopped them back then, I don't think anything will happen this time.

I also wouldn't want to go, now matter how safe people claimed it to be. My parents are going in to see a play that night and I have been begging them to cancel just out of fear something might happen. Hopefully all will be well and everyone will have a great time.

I will be at a still-to-be determined New Years Eve party, and watch the Times Square happenings thru ABC and Dick Clark. With the dude trying to blow up his sneakers yesterday on the plane, the risk is too great. The dude was from Sri Lanka too, but he had one of them middle-eastern names. I heard on one of them Sunday Morning talk shows that we will be hit again, is the opinion of most Government people. And If something were to happen in Times Square, would anyone really be suprised? There is no way to stop a suicide bomber blowing himself and prolly 100 others up.

I am with 42nd delay...I dont doubt that the evil doers have been planning something there for years. But one thing you have to understand about our country, we have prided ourselves on having a great intelligence network for as long as this country has been in existence. Washington was a Great leader during the American Revolution but it should also be further studied that he was also a spy master and trained and worked with people to learn the spycraft. This country has had an incredible intelligence network for years and in cooperation with other governments that network has grown substantially...doesnt mean they know everything. But if they get even a hint of something being plotted, they quash it before it even gets started and the only way you ever hear about it is in an episode of X-Files or some other type show...I am not saying to not worry about an attempt on Times Square, but dont go losing any sleep over it either...I think i read once that the three or four days where the US military is at its highest alertness is 1) New Years eve/day, 2) 4th of July (despite what that stupid ass movie Independence Day movie states) 3) Thanksgiving, and 4) Christmas Day...if you yourself want to help quash any attempts by terrorists remember old WW II adage "Loose lips sink ships" or something to that effect involving terrorists...
