Games of the XXIX Olympiad - Opening Ceremonies

The first half hour of NBC stuff was video fluff that wasn't all that great.

Then the real ceremony started.

I am amazed so far - fireworks, technology, people. Some absolutely astounding stuff.

Any thoughts or running commentary (it is on now)?

thought they did a nice job.

Pros at the fireworks, clearly.

Anyone else find the overall tone of the opening almost ominious? Almost like a display of China's military strength....like a quasi-parade of power......


....regimented, obedient......

more so, say, than if they had young children playin in the country's famous countrysides?

Fewer high kicks may have helped.

Athens was better...but that just to be expected.




I hate bob costas.
