ha! Didn't mean to make it sound like I actually like Randy Newman...I meant that the show was going in a really bad direction today.

Fez was pretty upset then just left(by the sound of the last 30 mins of the show)
Ron was pissed and Dave was doing his "Let's not be angry and watch me dance" routine.


It was probably best that they cut their losses and play the Randy Newman stuff...otherwise I'm pretty sure the rest of the show would have been Ron hanging up on people and lots of uncomfortable silence. That's not too fun to listen to.

I have to agree with this. I think Ron decided to cut-bait and thought it would be better to run the new, unheard Randy Newman interview than throw on some random Best Of material. And since Earl would be picking it, the Best Of stuff would probably have been the worst break from a show 3 weeks ago.

The listening thread isn't going to give you a real feeling of how uncomfortable it was getting in there.

I think the turning point on the show today was when a caller basically called Fez out. Saying that he isn't going to be helped by any of the drugs or any of the therapy if he isn't interested in changing in the first place. Ron agreed with the caller...basically...and Fez was pretty upset that someone was telling him something he wasn't prepared to hear.

It's been a stressful time for all of them for the past couple of years...and it's really bubbling over. I think Ron just really had enough today and wanted to end it.

You had to know the Randy Newman stuff was coming eventually. Even though I'm not familiar with his ouevre, I was looking forward to it as I know that Ron's a big fan of his and would get some good stuff out of him. Plus, it was a good time to go to it because of some of the aforementioned uncomfortable moments. The break seemed to work out fine as things were back to normal during the secret show, but you'd expect nothing less from professionals.
