Well... as I said on the air.. basically what I don't want is Billy naked in a pool of his own vomit dead somewhere...
That's my POV...
Anyone got one?

I haven't known Billy all that long, but I still count him as a friend. He is an awesome individual, and I really truly hope he can find a way to keep himself in check. Others that know him better don't seem so sure, and that worries me. I pray that he isn't merely in denial, and that he can in fact be responsible on his own.

I got thru last night to talk about this, but Al didnt get me thru on time. The show had moved on. So this is for you Joe Poo, even though it played out.... Al is a big Fag!
But anyway, Staples has serious problem. His judgement is impaired when it comes to alcohol. Billy is an addict, and most likely has an addictive personlity. Billy you cant make judgements when it comes to alcohol. Your brain is not wired to stop the destructive measures you take when you drink. I fully believe you should be accountable for your actions, but Staples is an addict, Billy has no hope to control the destructive drinking pattern that is intertwined into his personality makeup.
Billy, take some time alone in a room by yourself. And ask yourself .. is it worth it. Do I really need this drink. Think about how drinking has affected your life in the past, in the present and most of all where it will lead you. Is it worth going to the bottom again, losing everything you have worked for? I think not.
Just accept this advice, you are an addict. You cant make judgement calls on your addiction. Stay away from the drinking. Fill you life with something else. Your track record with alcohol will never change, drop it and move on with your life. Or you will be doomed to relive past mistakes
Good Luck and God Bless
If parenting is such a joy;
why did God allow his only son to die. Did Jesus forget to clean his room or did he get bad grades. Then bam! to the cross with you. That'll teach you to be the son of God and get bad grades.

he has to stop drinking b/c one beer can lead to ten which can lead to him doing shots and who knows what else. he needs to go to aa meetings, or at least see some one about his addiction.

I don't know enough about these kind of issues to comment on the psychology or physiology of it. I do know this, when this first came up on the air, I was very uncomfortable. This does not seem like an issue that should be aired essentially as a bit. I know everyone's comfortable on-air b/c that's what they do, but I feel like that was a line that was crossed. Just one listener's opinion.

I really like Billy. So I'm worried about the way he's handling this situation. I want to trust him that he will know when enough is indeed enough, but I'm worried if he can really show the necessary restraint.
I'll just have to keep wishing and hoping and praying.

Just to fill in inkgrrrl: Billy has decided that he is not going to give up drinking at this time. He went to the two AA meetings, but decided he wanted to continue partying. He says in the past he always quit for someone else, so now he wants to do something for himself. And that something is to continue drinking.
I agree with Bron Yur Stomp, Billy is an addict, and an addicted mind is a diseased one. The reason people in AA have sponsors is because their addicted brains do not have the capacity to make important decisions, so you need someone to tell you what to do. Otherwise your answer will always be to drink. My real fear is that if Billy doesn't turn it around soon he will be back on the pipe. To the addicted brain their is no difference between alcohol and crack, as both give you what you want. Some people have preferences to their addictions, but Billy has shown he has no problem using crack or cocaine. And that is where he is heading back to. It is quite sad, and I wish him well, but even more, I wish him clarity.

I wish Billy the best in his situation, but I really dont think that a public message board is the place to describe his problem. Many of us know his IM name, and I would rather discuss it one on one with him and not out in the open for anyone to say what is good and what is bad. He is human like the rest of us and I think he deserves respect and privacy. Just my humble opinion.

I seriously love Billy. He's got a great heart and he is funny as hell. Too often people with his talent and creativity fall prey to addiction and let it ruin their lives, as well as their families and friends.
Getting him to admit to it and confront the situation on the air was a noble act by Ron & Fez. They wouldn't have done this if they really didn't care for him, and realize his valuable contribution to the show (If Al had a drug/drinking problem, they'd have fired his ass on air)
I truly think Staples is a talented boy, I just pray to all that is divine and holy that he stays the course and keeps on the wagon.

Billy, I hope you read this. You'll see that people care about you and like you.
You'll see that we're concerned for you.
You're in pain. You've been through a very difficult time. You're at your most vulnerable to starting the downwad spiral now, more than ever before.
Billy, we truly care.

Billy, as HK said, there are alot of us on this board that care about you.
I for one have never held a conversation with Staples, but he sounds like a great guy, and all I want to see is the best happen to him. Hopefully he is serious about confronting his problem and is willing to get help and beat it all.
IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME-AHHH!
