How can there be upsets if the season is scripted?

I recently revisited the Arn Anderson pinning Hogan (via interference) again just a couple weeks back.

That's a well-deserved "upset".

Wrestling scripted... WOW..... Thanks for clearing that up

Yea I watched the Arn pinning Hogan yesterday and that got me thinking. IT was alos Hogans first lost on WcW... Did not see it coming at all......

Other ones that come to mind

Vince McMahon Wins Royal Rumble
Vince McMahon Pins HHH For Belt
Mankind Pins Rock For heavey weight Title

There are no true upsets then. Unless someone goes off script. A little improvising. That'd be fun to watch.

David Arquette winning the WCW title

and not a "real" upset but when Benoit, Guerrero, Saturn and Malenko showed up at Raw would be considered an upset for WWF over WCW

The Kid over Razor Ramon. A worker over a superstar, and launched the career of Xpac

Honky Tonk beating Steamboat for the IC title. Steamboat was on the way out, but storyline-wise, you can't possibly think HTM could beat the Dragon.

Pasty redneck brothers Randy and Dave Mulkey beating the Gladiators on Jim Crocket's Mid-Atlantic/NWA/WCW on TBS in the mid-late 80's.

the one that sticks in my mind is the Ultimate Warrior pinning Hogan for the title.

I am by no means a wrestling expert, but it's my understanding that there is some improvisation in the ring when a move doesn't go exactly as planned. In professional wrestling, I think it qualifies as an "upset" when the end-result is something very few in the crowd would have expected.

Yea but I'm sure it's decided who will be wearing the belt at the end of the match. Those three-counts the refs give have never been realistic.

Not really. I see it for its entertainment purpose. It's truly a money making business. But there are no true upsets.

A more recent one, Jay Lethal over Kurt Angle. It was lessened a little by the fact that they obviously wanted the X-Division title off Angle, but it was still very surprising to see him job cleanly to Lethal.

I was more making reference to the Sandman being removed from Capt. Lou Albano's birthday party by a SWAT team last month.
