Another nice show by Ron and the Sirius/XM staff.
Richard was funny, but can someone tell comedians that the all the black suit, nehru jacket, cons look is played out.
Comedy seems like such a small world. Just small group of guys in the late 70's early 80's represent most of stand up history.
Side notes; Dave the beard looks great, don't listen to Ron, and who was the cute dreadlocked girl in the front row?
Also, Fez's opening seemed very professional, funny and not inside, got the crowd ready for a good show.

I can't wait to hear the Richard Lewis Unmasked.
I believe that the "curb" alum eps have all been fantastic....and Lewis' general pov seems to be among RB's strongest insights.
As to Serpico's comment that Lewis's look and previous unmasked comedians seem to all be from an earlier era; hmmm...good point; maybe a relatively unknown up-and-cummer (hah, i said cummer) would be a nice changeup now that the series seems to be established.
...tho i expect, and my personal preferance is, that most guests would have a fairly known track record, and the point is to find out, or at least review, what went on behind the scenes to those matters of record.

Wow, it must not have been the same without you. They usually point at you before they start.

Comix is so much more roomier than the floor of the Sirius/XM's studio! Richard Lewis' dress stuck in my memory as the typical older comedian uniform. I think the sneakers really stuck out because they looked so new.
I hadn't seen Richard for a very long time. I think back in the late 80's or early 90's. I only had a TV for a few years in the 90's and gave up all-together in '03. Wow, he wasn't at all like I remembered him. He got old! And then I felt old. It was quite sobering. Now I'm depressed, guess I'll hop on the next dirigible and vamoose...
He's still funny.

It was a good show, but I don't think Richard answered ANY question according to what was asked.

This sounds like an awful interview.

This sounds like an awful interview.
It was a better interview than it sounds. Lewis would kind of go off on tangents, and Ron kind of let him go because he was saying some pretty interesting stuff about comedy, battling addictions, and helping both addicts and young comics, etc. Lewis was kind of self-deprecating about it too, recognizing when he'd run afield and respond with something like "what did you ask me again"? It all worked because it seemed very heartfelt and real, even if scattered at times, as opposed to the Robert Klein Unmasked where it seemed like he came in with a set of time-tested anecdotes that he wanted to work in, regardless of whether they fit the context.

Why is it when Mikey said "time tested anecdotes", Ron Bennington immediately morphed into Joe Franklin in my mind?

You should read his PMs when threatening to ban me.

Richard Lewis is allowed the all black with black cons look as he pretty much invented it. As for a young up-and-comer, they just did Seth Rogen. My dream "Unmasked" would probably be something like Seinfeld or Larry David. I could also go see going a bit off-path and doing a Steve Buscemi or Quentin Tarantino. Obviously, those are all tall orders, but I wouldn't put them out of the realm of possibility.

I hope he tells a story involving Rodney Dangerfield.

I wish I could have been there. I went to the Kids in the Hall taping and loved it. If it had been someone I like more, like Kids or Louis CK, I probably would have made it into the city. I like Richard Lewis, especially in Curb, but I was a bit worried about too much recovering addict talk. I find few things more boring that celebrities and comics especially telling that unbearably dull story of using drugs on the road because living on the road is tough, man, and then finding yourself with a problem....zzzzz

Was I the only shocked by the Artie Lange, heroin revelation. I had not heard anything about it. Obviously Artie was having trouble, but I didn't know he went away. Was that really public knowledge?

Yes. It was in the NY Post:
Howard Stern's sidekick is finally in rehab. Artie Lange, who's long overindulged with drugs and drink, was scheduled to attend close pal Bob Saget's Comedy Central roast on Sunday night, but never made it to LA. Instead, he checked himself into an intensive outpatient rehab program. A source said Lange "felt awful for not being there for Bob, but needed to make his health a priority." Lange also canceled his stand-up shows this weekend, but plans to return to his regular gig on Stern's Sirius radio show when it returns from hiatus. Lange's rep, Lewis Kay, confirmed the news.
