View Full Version : Turning down a Job with out looking rude
I applied for a job at a gym as a floor guy, I realized after my interview, this is not what I want to be doing at all. How can I politely turn down this job if I get it?

"Oh, thank you very much. I appreciate the offer, but I decided to go with something else."
"I kinda wish you had called earlier; I just accepted another offer"
etc etc...
Or, you could even tell the truth; but the above are more than acceptable.

The company doesn't give a fuck about you. Tell them that you think their job eats assholes and you would rather sell your butthole for money than work for them.
They don't kiss your ass when they turn you down, why kiss theirs?
Or just say, "No thanks.". That's probably better.
What, are you worried about not getting a reference from a place you never worked at?

I teen with good manners is a rare thing. I applaud him for wanting to be polite. Tell them to fuck off.

Don't wait until you get the job, call now and say you wish to be taken out of the applicant pool. You need to think about that poor bastard who really wanted the job, who did not get it cus' you did.

Chris is a VERY WISE man. I know it may be a stupid minimum-wage job, but no reason to get into the habit of burning bridges. You may need to go back to them later for a job (although I really can't see you among a bunch of meatheads).

Doesn't apply here, but I've seen a guy not show up for a job and it cost him the job he decided to take, word of mouth wise in the industry can be a bitch.

Industry can be a bitch
Most industries (especially in the same city) are revolving doors. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've heard, "Didn't you work at...."
NEVER burn bridges when you're in "an industry" no matter if you're small beans. You may get SICK of it, but people REMEMBER.
THAT said, does anyone have any GREAT BRIDGE BURNING stories to tell????!!!! I had TWO opportunities to burn bridges WITH NO BAD CONSEQUENCES. SO WISH I had walked out.
Twenty years ago, I was a receptionist at a country club. There was a part-timer who quit so I said I'd fill in, THINKING they'd fill her slot. When I said I couldn't work 15 hours a day, the MGR said TS. I should have WALKED OUT but I was saving for college and it was an easy gig, although LONG. NO OT.
I heard that MGR got indicted for embezzling from the club.
GOD THE 80s SUCKED!!!
