Leave your stereo at home, anchor your umbrella properly (it's how we can spot the Bennys - their umbrellas go flying at the slightest breeze :nono:), and standard state park rules apply, including: carry out what you carried in.
Enjoy your stay!

Boob, I funny at your mention of the word Benny. I guess I don't get it like most things.
We spent a week at Bradley Beach this summer and I was really interested to find a guy at the Asbury Park Convention Center with a shop basically saying Benny Go Home (http://www.bennygohome.com/home.html). I can't think of a better way to kill traffic to Asbury. I tried to talk to this guy and he was not interested in engaging me deeper but he did offer to sell me a sticker.
I love Asbury and I'm glad to see what's going on there. We had dinner at the old HoJo and drinks on the veranda at the Convention Center. Very nice. Everyone should go take a visit.
Anyway, I took that BennyGoHome as a 'fuck you tourist, go home.' Then I thought about it a bit. If you can get past this guy's myspace page, and the rest of the shit, what's the message? Fuck you, go home guy with money?
Me personally, I always try to carry a bag to the beach and I pack off twice as much as I pack in or I pick up trash as I leave just as if I were camping.
My NJ inlander question is, what is a Benny?
LaBoob

The origin of the word isn't 100% clear, there are several theories according to Wikipedia, but in general a benny is someone coming from the city to the Jersey Shore and disrespecting the culture and the environment.
I kid when I use the word, but I was raised in a strong Jersey Shore culture and continue to spend a lot of time taking advantage of the shore all year, and while it's easy to categorize everyone who disrespects the beach or fails to follow or even be aware of beach etiquette, a "benny", the truth is lots of people from the area are just as ignorant of the ways of the beach too.
Not sure I get the "Bennys Go Home" store at Asbury either though.

"Shoo-bee's go home" was and probably still is the by word on LBI.
Whatever. Fuck it. Who cares.
The really nice thing about our NJ shore vacation this summer was that I was able to set my son free a bit. He's 10 and a good swimmer so I let him go out into the surf to ride the waves by himself for a few hours.
I wanted to join him and I didn't. He made a bunch of friends out there. You have to let them go - a little bit at a time thankfully.

I like Seaside Tony because I HATE that kind of guy! Seaside Tony type guys made up maybe 75% of the guys who went to my high school and I can't stand 'em. I can't tell you how many great girls I grew up with who wound up dating guys like this and it just made me realize, WOW, we are from different worlds!
A Seaside Tony is another word for this sorry excuse for life:

I'm heading down the shore this week for vacation. I'll be doing NOTHING, thank you very much. Well, maybe a little fishing while waiting for my parents to drive my camaro up from the Bahamas.
You looked so very pretty, when we met in Ocean City,
like someone, oh, so easy to adore.
I sang this little ditty, on our way through Ocean City,
heading south along New Jersey's shore.
On the way to Cape May, I fell in love with you.
On the way to Cape May, I saw my dreams come true.
I was taken by your smile, as we drifted by Sea Isle.
My heart was really gone when we reached Avalon.
On the way to Cape May, Stone Harbor's skies were blue.
We were naming the day when Wildwood came in view.
If you're gonna be my spouse, we'd better head for that Court House
On the way to Cape May,
On the way to Cape May.

Anyone who is proud that they live by the shore and acts territorial is just as insignificant and joyless as the tourists who fuck it up in the summer. They are just beaches, you should be more pissed about the traffic they cause.
I was coming out of B&N yesterday and the car next to us had "BENNY GO HOME" written across the back of it. Also with a ton of "Rude Boy" shit but whatever they ruined their own car.

The Wildwoods don't really get guidos. They get PA drivers.
(Sorry Katja, no offense intended your direction, but I distrust PA drivers ever since my cousin Kate failed the NJ road test with our grandparents ... then went out to PA with her dad's dad and passed the PA road test 2 days later. When compared to German drivers, no, absolutely we are not.

I know full well what happens in No. VA when it snows.
Everyone in No. VA is a freaking pussy. Having driven in No. VA on at least one occasion after a snowfall, I have seen this with my own eyes.
That's not evil; that's showing fear. I laugh in the faces of the fearful. (Until it's winter and I whine that the office didn't shut down for a snow day because I fear for my life on the un-sanded, un-salted roadways.)
Also, can you explain to me why drivers in Northern VA absolutely must go 90-100mph when there's absolutely nowhere to go?

And I think it should be permissable to bludgeon to death drivers that block the box.

I would think that the safest way if they were on the roof would be that you would have to stop the car before firing.
The hood is just a bad idea all around.
I would with fold downgrill behind the head lights.
You would have to figure out some sort of venting system for the rocket smoke, though.

Forget the left lane doing 50 ... what about the right-hand lane, with the blinker on, going 45 in a 65?
Or the ones in the center lane during the a.m. rush doing 40?
Or the ones who insist upon tailgating when there's PLENTY OF ROOM to go around the offending vehicle?
The ones I especially loathe are always out-of-state plates. Although I get the greatest degree of schadenfreude from seeing someone with in-state plates who's weaving (and failing to signal) get stuck behind a group of these drivers. C'mon buddy, where's the fire????
