Which of the following would you like to have at our board party? I'd also like your feedback on what you'd like to see there. Be aware each one comes with a cost.
1) DJ
2) Band
3) Kareoke Machine
4) Catered Food
5) Open Bar
6) Comedian
7) Theme Party (A party designer comes in and makes the space into whatever theme we want...)
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Band is always a good idea, but you may need to have something in between sets...either a DJ or Comic would work great...
Open Bar, while a great idea, will definately put a wrinkle in somebody's wallet...

Just the board folks and some liquor usually works.
But any of those are good ideas, except for that theme thing. That sounds fairly gay.

I like the idea of having an all age event... seriosly there are memebers here that id love to meet.
I like the band Idea... kinda ause there gonna us spics ya know... whre's the salsa, meregue ya know bee...(J/k). I really like the theme party tho.... kareoki sounds great too... kareoki mos def!!!
I mean we had alot of fun with the kareoki the other night.
if ya need someone to spin for like and hour or two I could spin some house... and well.. lichor... we could bring our own. If we have a bar most likely not gonna be an allage event unless they
card at the bar.
kareoki + alcohol + us = great ol time

Ew, who'd wanna see GVAC naked? Oh, wait...heh heh
Seriously, a band would be cool as long as people could still talk to eachother and stuff (i.e. the music isn't too loud). Open Bar is a bit pricey, but since it's one of the suggestion, I assume someone has the financial capacity for it...

Mud Wrestling.
and Spin The Bottle.
The open bar would be sweet for heavy drinkers like myself, obviously, but will everyone take advantage enough to make it worth while? Maybe discounted drinks? Or open beer and wine?
A DJ means that a lot of different types of music can be played. Probably better for this eclectic crowd.
A little Ron Bennigton standup, maybe? :-)

Personally I think that an open bar is not feasible economically aside from all of the social ills it invites.
What I'm saying is not everyone will pony up the cash, and that there will be people puking on my shoes and trying to fight one another.
So when is this gathering?

Three or Four kegs of Miluakee's Best and byob, one of the board members spinning tunes on a Sony Shelf System, a roof, and this crowd is all we need.
If it were summer, I'd say we could forget the roof and party at the Moon Towers! Rock!

honestly though open bar sounds good in theory, but we don't need that. all we need is cheap keg beer and hard liquor available. everything else is just an afterthought.

Well, I've already seen two djs reply in this thread, one of whom I know has equipment, so we can always take advantage of a free hook up :)
Then again, doesn't matter what we do as long as everyone has fun.

Why not get a funny(comedian) cover band that allows people to sing any song(karaoke) and has a dj(DJ) in it that dresses in theme clothing(theme party) and has there own alcohol(open bar) and food(catering).
That's a mess. forget I ever said anything.
i got kicked out of my band, so now i'm stuck with the name

Would you guys prefer to pay more for a cover charge and have an open bar or have a lower cover and pay per drink? I know some of you are total alkeys and some don't drink much...

Typically, DJs are cheaper than bands (obviously) and costs for hall rentals and such could jack up prices if you have a cover charge. In all fairness, if some people don't drink, they shouldn't have to pay towards an open bar for the rest of us. If you have someone who has the equipment, and some extra people who know how to use it (or can be taught) go that route- rotate 2 or 3 behind the equipment. That way you don't have one person stuck behind the DJ table all night (been there), and not have a chance to mingle.
