My thoughts exactly; when he first started at MSNBC he put on a decent show. I still maintain that OReily is often entertaining; but I can't watch 15 minutes of Olberman any longer.

No, they're not.

The interns don't bring in millions of dollars. They help out people actually making money, and learning their craft. Interns are more like apprentices. And their work product while somewhat helpful, isn't necessary to keep the business going.

But college athletes don't help out professionals do their job. They are actually the ones doing the job (putting on live/televised entertainment for a paying audience).

Look at it this way: Unproven amatuers are paid roughly $50K per annum via room board tuition and books, and over 90% of them fail at their chosen craft, (whatever sport they play), as they don't make the pros or ever play again.

The feetball programs pay for a lot of other amatuer athelets schooling as well; so it's not like most schools are actually profiting from the program. If Michigan, (one of the most sucessful feetball programs in the country doesn't make a big time bowl paying out millions they generally lose money. That's after filling the stadium, (110,000 Plus), fuller than any other in the land each and every home game.

@ $200,000 for maybe excelling at your sport seems a fair payoff to me; especially in light of the fact that the biggest failure at sports still recieves his education whether he makes the team or not.

Query for the thread. Should we have an informal rule where you can't start the listening thread, unless you intend to can listen to the show that day?

The thread starter gets five tags, and if that person isn't listening to the show and updating the tags, then we have an anemic thread list.

Now when I say "rule," I mean something we agree to try to do together, as opposed to something that's enforced with discipline, etc.

I'd prefer something that's enforced with discipline; I vote to superglue their fingertips together, and then tickeling them until they pee themselves.

I think the "scolding" when you don't have those things is from everyone, not just mods/admins. I admit I've busted balls about someone not following the usual thread format, but others have as well.
