The bridge that Fez is terrified of was used in the opening of the Superboy TV series.

I don't have a real height or bridge phobia, but the angles of ascent/descent on the Skyway are so severe it really makes me really nervous when I drive it. God forbid you ever get in a jam halfway up. Yikes. My Dad tells me the old one was even worse.

Remember when the clouds would encircle the old bridge....Ahh to stop at the rest area and get good and drunk before going to St Pete...

I go over the bridge every day on my way to and from work, it is the Skyway bridge, but that rail bridge next to it is fake, there are supposed to be piers on either side of it as well.

The other bridge isn't fake. It's the remains of the original Skyway before it was demolished (notice the missing gap where the barge struck the old Skyway). The piers that you see today are parts of the causeway portion of the original bridge.

Nope - "Superboy" TV series 1988-1992 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superboy_%28TV_series%29)

My sister went to USF in Tampa. When we would visit her, my younger brother used to get nervous about going over the new bridge after he heard about the barge hitting the old one. He would start getting nervous about two hours before we got to the bridge. I used to sit in the back seat when we were going over the bridge and keep saying, "I think I see a barge coming." It was sorta freaky when you could see the remaining parts of the old bridge.
I have not been over it in years, but when I think about the ascent and descent now, I start to get a little lightheaded, almost like I had way too much caffeine.

Several years ago on Hooters on the Radio, a caller witnessed a woman going down on a guy while driving across the Skyway Bridge.

The series was on from 1988 to 1992. The collision happened in 1980 and the bridge was demolished in 1990.

I think I just developed a new fear of bridges. At least one of that size.

There's a few clips from Hooters and Ron & Ron that I submitted to the file library.
I wish I had audio of Carl calling in. I don't think that character was used in NY, although there are times when Ron uses the same voice.

Supposedly the only guy to survive the fall into the water that day finally killed himself a year or so back..

My cousin commited suicide from this bridge:

And he did it because his sister, my cousin Colleen lost her life on 9/11.

His name was Wesley McIntire and I thought he died in '89, but I'm not sure what of. HE was always quoted as being in a constant state of guilt and depression from being the sole survivor, though.

No, the only survivor, whose car was pictured earlier in this thread, died in 2000 of natural causes. He was 80.
Sadly, the majority of the deaths was from a Greyhound Bus heading south to Miami.

The guy in the yellow Buick survived, but there was also McIntire whose truck landed on top of the barge, rolled into the Bay and he was rescued by the sailors on the barge. He was the one who died in '89, but I haven't found what of.

The guy responsible for the accident, who crashed the freighter into the bridge, died in 2002, but that wasn't suicide related, although he had to feel guilt all those years.
