They celebrate? Or they remember?

If you give us a day off, we're going to do something. Memorial Day. Labor Day. 4th of July.

A 9/11 Day?

Memorial Day works because we're remembering soldiers who sacrificed their lives.

9/11 would be remembering people who were murdered.

Well, since to me the intent of Thanksgiving is to eat like a pig then get shitfaced watching football, I don't see a problem.

Well, since to me the intent of Thanksgiving is to eat like a pig then get shitfaced watching football, I don't see a problem.

Actually, if you do just a little research, the "act" of a first Thanksgiving dinner never even happened between Indians and Pilgrims.

The only recorded account was almost a hundred years earlier between the Spanish and Indians in Florida.

Technically, It's Spain that should be celebrating Thanksgiving.

So there's another lie your teacher told you.

Could you imagine what he'd be like if it had happened today?

what seems like the craziest thing in retrospect, I only had a radio and no tv, so most of 9/11 for me is remembered through Howard Stern. They had a duty because a lot of people were listening so it was a very serious day on that show. Almost like a news program. Easier to buck up and get through it when that's your mission. Stern, O&A and R&F were really noble that day (as well as some other talk shows)- just letting people talk.

I have the O&A 9/11 mp3 somewhere if anyone wants it.

I'm not a big Stern fan anymore, but I've listened to their 9/11 broadcast a couple of times since that date, and because the attacks happened during the show, it does an amazing job of capturing the confusion, anger, and fear of that day. It brings it back in a way that none of the news coverage.

That happened for my wife as well today. She was hit harder this year than in past years. I think it's probably this is the first one where we've lived so close to the WTC site, and there are lots of reminders outside.

I received an email today with a powerpoint about the tragedy. It was meant just in a "never forget" manner, but it really saddened me.

It took me a long time before I could go down to the wall street area. To this day I refuse to watch most of the "documentaries" or that Nick Cage movie.

Me too. They're fiction, and my most accounts, not very good.

After six years of memorials and special events with friends, I'm done. For me it's time to move on. I could never relate to those who lost family members and spouses, but those I knew are dead and gone and no memorializing is going to affect or talk to them in any way. The best I can do is just remember them well.

I don't think it's hit my wife harder this year than previous years, although it has hit her hard. She lost her brother, and this is the first year that she hasn't spent this day with her mom, her remaining brother and his family. She is spending a lot of it with our eldest daughter, while I take care of the younger.
