I am just as confident that McCain will win this election as I am that he will face a Democratic majority in the House and Senate. I still think the Republicans will have enough to filibuster, but that's about it.

You should be much more confident that the Dems will continue their majority in the House and Senate. It's a lock. It's a matter of how many MORE seats they will gain.
The McCain/Obama contest is debatable.
The poll cited is a generic congressional poll...completely meaningless. Even more so than most polls.

Bingo! The question is how many seats. If we can hold close in both houses, I'll take it. If we can keep it to -5 in the house and -2 or 3 in the Senate, with a McCain victory, it will be a GREAT year.

The Republicans have about as much of a chance of winning control of both houses of Congress as the Democrats have of winning the White House.
The Republicans will win sets in the House of Representatives, but the Democrats will still have a majority, and will keep the number of Democrats in the Senate under 60.

Pelosi and Reid's lack of leadership has helped restore the Republican brand (or minimize the harm). They are like a tem sitting on a lead hoping the clock will runout. The strategy may prove successful, but it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

Based on the past 8 years, of which the republicans have had the congress, house, and president for 6 of them. How can anyone think anything else.
Tell me that the republicans have done a good job if you believe it.

If you have to do research to find what an administration has done well, there isn't any.

That's only because a well planned attack takes years to organize. If they want to, they can. Easily. I wouldn't praise any administration for "no attacks", because if someone wants to set off a bomb, they can.

Its the same way i would have to do research on the Clinton administration, but i noticed you only highlighted one segment where i brought up checking into it. At least be sensible and quote both parts instead of just selectively highlighting parts to try and make a point

Well by this websites count its been 19 potential attacks that have been thwarted, now not all were as advanced as what happened on 9/11 and some good be debateable but even if you took the middle number you are still talking about 10 thwarted

I have no doubt that our law enforcement are out there trying to prevent further attacks. It's just that there really isn't anything we can do about someone pulling up in a van in Times Square and opening fire. I also don't think that it matter who is in office, our agencies would be trying to stop these attacks with the same aggressiveness. At least I'd hope so.

But you also stated that it could be done easily and if it could be done that easily then the US would probably have hit again then no?
The fact is that after the horrific events of 9/11 the DHS was formed which broke down a lot of the walls between law enforcement agencies so that they could share information easier

It's just that 9/11 was planned for many years before those guys just walked onto those planes.
IF they are planning another attack, they're taking their time. With patience, they could pull off another one.
I know our guys are out there going after them. I just hope they can keep up with the growing amount of people who want to hurt us again.

I disagree. That district will not be a bellwhether by any stretch. If Mellissa Hart retakes her seat, then it will be a bad night for Democrats. If Carney loses, it will be the world coming back on its axis. That is a solid R district, therefore it is a referendum on Carney, not the national Democrat party.

He said "one other," meaning the '93 WTC bomb. The others were overseas. You don't want to include those in a declarative statement of "no attacks since 2001" since there have been multiple overseas Al Queada strikes since then.

He's arguing the whole thing sideways. There haven't been significant attacks on US targets besides the military because we've made it much easier for them to attack us with all the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why waste time, men and resources going after US targets elsewhere when tens of thousands of Americans with very expensive vehicales ad equipment can be killed, destroyed and stolen right in your backyard?

The goal of Al Queda is to kill their "enemies," cause damage and loss of money. That's what they and their ilk have been doing pretty consistently since 2001.

Yes it is a solid Republican district, and most of the seats that the Democrats won in 2006 were in Republican leaning districts, that's why if this one shifts a lot of others will likely shift back to the Republicans as well. This district will just be the first one called of the night.
You might have some of your info wrong, Melissa Hart has nothing to do with this district. It was held by Don Sherwood (he was the guy that tried to strangle a whore) and Carney is running against Chris Hackett.
Now if Kanjorski loses in the 11th district, its over for the Democrats, but despite his corruption, his last name ends in a vowel and that's all those Catholics vote on, well that and skin color, even though Obama ends in a vowel, he's back and those Catholic Democrats won't vote for a half white guy.

Exactly but PA-10 is a hard GOP district so it is always likely to change back. Therefore it will not be an indicator. Hart's district will be a bellwether because it is a leans R district. I think if 10 comes back in, youll see LA-6, TX 22 and foleys seat in FL shift back, maybe Ca-11 too but thats it.

Yes but keep in mind the power of incumbency and that's probably good for 7 to 10 points in any district.
But anyway the Democrats aren't adding any seats in the House of Representatives like they claimed they were going to all summer, I think they'll still control the House but its going to be a slim margin, and a lot of subcommittee chairs will be offered to Democrats from Red states to switch parties. I think the Dems will probably add a couple of Senate seats, but they won't come close to getting 60 votes and if its 51 to 49, Lieberman will go Republican and Palin will break the tie in the Senate giving the Republicans control of the Senate. I'm going to guess 54 Democrats in the Senate counting Lieberman.
A lot will depend on McCain & Palin's coattails, and there is still 6 weeks left, which is a lifetime in politics. I just can't see the Democrats winning the White House, and can't see the Republicans winning either the House or Senate.
