Figured I'd start one and hopefully it can be made into a sticky thread. Anything involving the indies can be posted here. I'm gonna start with a really big announcement made by JAPW...

The big one is obviously LAX v. The Briscoes. Looks like a good card so far though, and I may try to get out to this show. It's only an hour down the parkway from me.

In other news, I just watched ROH's Tag Wars 2008, and I'm pretty much ready and willing to call MCMG v. AOTF the Match of the Year.

I used to go to indy shows all the time, and the JAPW shows were always the best. I got to meet 911 (from old ECW) at the first JAPW show I went to. Whatever happened to 911 anyways?

Jack & I will be attending the A.W.E.S.O.M.E. show at Winding River Skate Park in Toms River this Saturday. You can check them out at http://www.awesomewrestlingonline.com or http://www.myspace.com/totallyawesomewrestling.

And funny boonanas should mention 911. He will be in attendance, along with other special guests Ted DiBiase, Tito Santana, and former Spirit Squad member Mikey.

All 5 of the organization's belts will be on the line, including a ladder match between Jersey Shore Cruiserweight champ Dan Rageous and his ex-partner Chris Banks, and an I Quit match between MySpace champion (yes, they have a MySpace champion) Mark Modest and former champ "Radical" Robby Morrison.

Tickets are $15 adults, $12 for kids, bell-time is 7:30 pm.

The problem with most promotions these days: too many belts.

SpicyMcHaggis
09-24-2008, 10:05 AM
Well, each promotion has an established champion. There are a lot of independent promotions. Therefore, a lot of championship belts. It's simple a deduction.

And if the complaint was in reference to the fed in my post, bear in mind that 2 of those championships are a women's belt (currently held by my old arch-nemesis Taylor Nicole) and a tag team championship.

Not a complaint specific to AWESOME, just seeing the number of belts in your post reminded me of the wide-spread problem. In my opinion, it degrades the "value" of a championship belt when more than half of the card is title matches. My current favorite promotion has no title, and has spent its first 2 years of existence building up to both a loyal fan base and a huge championship tournament finale.

While this isn't necessarily about AWESOME, I can't say I agree to a promotion having a Myspace Title...

commish13
09-24-2008, 11:54 AM
CHIKARA only has really one actual championship -- they have the Campeonatos de Parejas. And the rule is that for a team to challenge for the title, they have to win 3 matches in a row, and then not lose again before they get the title shot they've earned, or they lose the shot and have to start over again. And every title match is 2/3 falls.

They also have the Young Lions Cup, but that has rules different from a championship. It's pretty much like the King of the Ring, except it can be challenged for like a title. Every spring they do a tournament, and to qualify you must be 24 years or younger. The winner of the tournament then holds the YLC and defends it like a championship for the rest of the year, and that goes on until the next YLC begins. I'm not exactly sure of the rule, but if you've ever won the tournament or if you've ever held the cup, you can't compete in the tournament again. It's either/or, but it might be both of them. I'm not clear on it.

CHIKARA's great, and in the future I have considered training with them. They run once a month at the old ECW arena and do shows around Pennsylvania and just did their first pair of midwest shows.

So here's a little update on Bandido Jr. A couple of weeks ago at a JAPW show he lacerated his head quite badly and had several stitches put in. I saw him at ECPW in Paramus this past Friday night and he said he's doing okay and should be ready for future shows but he's "gonna take it a bit more easy until the head heals."

He's also wrestling for NWA Liberty States under the gimmick of El Gato which you can see here wrestling Alex Payne from ROH:

http://cjcoons.smugmug.com/photos/371360872_BFMaN-M.jpg

Josh Daniels also debuted a new gimmick for NWA/LSW as "The Masked Letterman" who is kind of like Matt Classic look and style wise but the premise is that he's a collegiate wrestler who in order to pay for tuition has to do the one thing he hates and that's pro wrestling. In order to protect his identity he wears a mask and wrestles pretty much NCAA style with a few cheap shots here and there. Here he is wrestling "Bonecrusher" Fred Sampson:

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm89/ProPhotosV/NWA%20Ironbound/082.jpg

And another shot of the mysterious Masked Letterman:

http://cjcoons.smugmug.com/photos/371370393_WTKGv-M.jpg

This is their new giant, The Great Pharoah:
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm89/ProPhotosV/NWA%20Ironbound/165.jpg

Also, over that double shot weekend, NWA/LSW crowned new TV tag team champions, The Samoan Warriors, Fala and Makua:

http://cjcoons.smugmug.com/photos/372061393_sU9iQ-M.jpg

Also, Judas Young after a year long title reign lost the NWA TV Championship to Danny Inferno who the following night became Danny "The Funker" Gimondo and brought along his new partner in crime, Baby "Hoss" Hughie:

Blue Demon became the first Mexican NWA World's Heavyweight Champion but as usual, there's "controversy" around the decision so the title will probably end up going to David Marquez's best friend Adam Pearce anyway. Here's a video:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZXPx_dEfx-E&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZXPx_dEfx-E&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Speaking of the NWA they've updated their official website and it looks a hell of a lot better than it used to.

The biggest story I've read so far happens to be in Ring of Honor:

Ring of Honor Announcement
Sunday, October 26, 2008

Ring of Honor is announcing that Gabe Sapolsky will be leaving the company effective immediately. Everybody at ROH would like to thank him for his contributions and wish him well in all future endeavors.

Going forward Ring of Honor will be focusing on the stories and the talent in the ring. The company will have no further comments on this issue or a replacement for Mr. Sapolsky. We would like to thank all of the fans and media who have supported us over the years and look forward to bringing you more great wrestling excitement in the future.

That's from ROHwrestling.com so it must be official. There are rumors that ROH President Cary Silkin has been in talks with the founder of ROH, Rob Feinstein. It's also possible that the person who will replace Sapolsky will be Silkin's good friend Bushwacker Luke who has an excellent reputation as far as booking goes.

Something's telling me ROH would be a step back for Heyman. Think about it. He's got television and high production marketing business experience. If he wanted to get back into wrestling, he'd most likely go to TNA because they'd be able to pay more. Frankly, I'd give former JAPW booker Ray Sager a chance because when he was booking and ROH was starting, they looked to JAPW talent to provide for their show. I think he'd do a fine job in ROH.

Ah. He always seemed like a weird guy, but he was always nice enough to me in the few occasions we had short chats. Cary's great though. I've stood with him at a couple Philly shows and watched matches with him. Commish, I shall reply to you here: Sorry sir, we are fresh out....

I love how all the BoTS are saying that ROH is dead now. I personally havent found ROH to be that entertaining for the past several months. I've been to 7 shows this year and for some reason it was just missing something for me. Im not saying its all Gabe's fault but everybody can understandably get burned out after a(wh)ile. I just hope that this "new creative direction" doesnt include ROH losing its identity and falling off like many Indy's did after ECW folded.

Here's the latest on Ring of Honor from DOIwrestling.com:

It is all but 100% confirmed by ROH themselves that Adam Pearce is taking over ROH. Pearce moves to Philly on 11/1. This would explain Pearce dropping the NWA title this weekend.

Pearce, who has a booking background on the west coast, primarily for AWS, is expected to slow up the shows a bit. Pearce doesn't have the raging hard-on for anything oriental that Sapolsky did, so I would expect the shows to cost less, as flights from Japan are very costly.

AnnoyedGrunt
10-29-2008, 02:02 PM
What are the chances that this will help ROH's production? I've only seen a couple best of videos so I can't speak to the booking but it seems like there's a lot of stuff they could do cheaply that would help. For example, prior to the matches on the DVD they have the announcers tell a bit of the back story. Great, but they have it set up as a 2 camera shoot but they never turn to the second camera like on a newscast.. You just have an awkwardly framed view from the side. Don't get me wrong, I don't need a fancy set and pyro. I liked ECW as much as the next guy and their shows were low budget but it seemed to have a gritty style to it. ROH just comes off as cheap to me.

Of course, the in ring product is good enough to make me forget that the cameras don't seem to be colour timed correctly and that the promos on the house mic are tough to hear.

From Gerweck.net:

BIG VISION ENTERTAINMENT LAUNCHES NEW WRESTLING SHOW WITH THE NATIONAL WRESTLING ALLIANCE® (NWA™)

Big Vision sets out to reclaim the glory for the legendary NWA wrestling franchise which has spawned WWE, WCW, and TNA among others.

Los Angeles, Calif., Oct. 30, 2008 –Big Vision Entertainment, a leading independent licensee, production company and DVD label for special interest programming announced today the plans to reclaim the glory for the legendary wrestling brand of the National Wrestling Alliance® (NWA™) via a new series to be taped out of the historic Columbia Square Studios on Sunset Boulevard in the heart of Hollywood, CA.

The exclusive worldwide production and distribution agreement includes all television and home entertainment rights to the new NWA franchise, which Big Vision plans to produce and sell into worldwide syndication and cable outlets.

“Big Vision is thrilled to be working with the NWA in effort to take the oldest and most respected brand in wrestling back into mainstream media.” Said Big Vision founder and CEO, Houston Curtis. “Our new show will focus on a more intimate vibe and feel best described as a modern version of the way wrestling used to be produced before the WWE era. Our goal is to bring pure wrestling entertainment back to the family.”

Curtis, who created the multi-million dollar Backyard Wrestling franchise as well as WSX for MTV has made pro-wrestling a focus of Big Vision since the inception of the company in 2003. Sales for home entertainment and television will be handled through Big Vision’s TV and home video arm, which currently has distribution for over 100 titles throughout the US and around the world.

The most recent nationally televised NWA show was called NWA Wrestling Showcase and aired on the Dish Network.

“The 'Showcase' was a great first step in getting our talent ready for television and the best thing we could have done is gone dark for a while.” said NWA Executive Director Robert K. Trobich. “Our new show 'NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood' will continue to highlight some of the great talent you have already been introduced to while creating an opportunity for us to expand and be in the middle of the entertainment industry.”
Creator/Producer of XPW, WSX and Big Vision Exec VP Kevin Kleinrock added, “With legendary names like Ric Flair, Terry Funk, Harley Race and the Von Erichs as the foundation for what the NWA franchise was built on, we are confident that NWA Championship Wrestling From Hollywood will quickly become a must see weekly event for the millions of wrestling fans in the US and around the world.”

Production, which is being co-produced and directed by the NWA’s Dave Marquez is slated to begin Friday, November 14th, 2008 with a live taping scheduled to start at 7:30pm. Tickets to the taping are FREE and available on a first come first serve basis. Additional FREE tapings will be held Saturday, November 15th at 7:30pm and Sunday, November 16th at 3:30pm. Fans wanting to attend the Hollywood tapings can call (818) 232-0770. Tickets can also be reserved online at www.nwawrestling.com or www.bigvisionentertainment.com.

I've worked with David Marquez in the past. He is extremely biased towards his friends in regards to who is put over and focused on. However, he does know how to produce television and it'll be interesting to see how this show will be done without Adam Pearce booking it now that he'll be working with ROH. Speaking of which, I've got a feeling that ROH may end up merging with the NWA if ROH doesn't make any progress.

From BODYSLAMwrestling.com:

At "TRICK OR BEATINGS" October 18, 2008 in Hasbrouck Heights NJ, Steve Off defeated Tommy Face to become the new BODYSLAM Wrestling World Champion. The stipulation of the match was that if Tommy Face was disqualified, he would forfeit the World Championship -and that's exactly what happened when a masked man carrying a La Famiglia singature bat attacked Steve Off. Tommy Face denies that he had any foreknowledge of the attack. and claims the attacker was not affiliated in anyway with La Famiglia. Still, the World Championship changed hands on that night and Steve Off is the BODYSLAM Wrestling World Champion. Tommy Face has challenged Steve Off to a rematch on November 15, 2008 at the Pioneer Club in Hasbrouck Heights when BODYSLAM returns for "Holiday Harvest."

Long time BODYSLAM Wrestling Superstar CHAOS was injured by La Famiglia during an attack at "BEACH PARTY" in August. "Mr. Wolf" Evan Myers, along with Dr. Callahan, brutally assaulted CHAOS with a spare turnbuckle. The resulting injuries have forced CHAOS out of the ring. At this time, doctors have advised CHAOS that he is unable to continue wrestling and that there doesn't appear to be any changes which indicate a return. To add insult to injury, since that time, Mr. Wolf has impersonated CHAOS, making fun of his injuries during the performance, as well as verbally attacked CHAOS during "TRICK OR BEATINGS" where CHAOS was in attendance signing autographs.

Also on the list of BODYSLAM Wrestling superstars who are no longer wrestling due to La Famiglia, fan favorite Chrono Chris has resigned from BODYSLAM Wrestling following a vicious and uncalled for attack.

BODYSLAM Wrestling's two most "mentally unique" individuals, Section 8 & Slayer, have joined forces and become "The Insaniacs." BODYSLAMwrestling.com attempted to get statements from "The Insaniacs" regarding their recent Tag Team Division matches, however Slayer only barked at us as Section 8 stood there laughing. What that means is anybody's guess.

Richie Rotten & "Pretty Boy" Eric Hiller have faced off against each other several times in the past few months. According to Rotten, the feud stems from Hiller's airing of dirty laundry in public. Rotten claims Hiller unprofessionally attacked him in a statement made at a live event which Rotten felt was something which should have been handled in private in the locker room. Hiller however disagrees, he claims that this began a long time ago when Rotten allowed his personal feelings to get in the way of his professional judgement and abused his authority as President of BODYSLAM Wrestling Organization. During their last two encounters, Hiller has fled drawing a count out. As result, Rotten has challenged Hiller to a "New Jack City Lumberjack Match" at "BOILERMAKER BEATDOWN" Nov. 21, 2008 at Garfield High School.

Tickets to "Holiday Harvest" (Saturday November 15 at the Pioneer Club in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) and "BOILERMAKER BEATDOWN!" (Friday November 21 at Garfield High School) are available in our events and shopping sections here at BODYSLAMwrestling.com, or by calling (973) 473-1599 today!

November 8, 2008- BODYSLAMwrestling.com has been informed that the former WWE superstar who challenged Glenn Ulrich to a match at "BOILERMAKER BEATDOWN!" is none other than Nunzio! We've also learned that Glenn Ulrich has accepted the challenge and will return to his hometown of Garfield NJ on November 21st to face Nunzio!

Last Monday morning, between Midnight & 3am, retired BODYSLAM Wrestling Superstar CHAOS was the guest of Professor Dum Dum on his weekly WFMU radio broadcast.
Real Audio & MP3 versions of the show, as well as downloadable pod casts are available at WFMU.org. BODYSLAMwrestling.com is not responsible for any of the material aired on the show. During the broadcast, "Mr. Wolf" Evan Myers called in, resulting in an on-air argument with CHAOS. Listener discretion is advised as neither man pulled any punches. In fact, Myers called in two times and both times the station had to dump the call due to the argument getting out of hand. In addition to the incident(s) with Myers, CHAOS answered callers' questions and bantered with the host of the show, Professor Dum Dum. Check out WFMU.org to hear the entire show!

Also, don't miss the return of the BWO to Hasbrouck Heights, NJ this Saturday, November 15th at the Pioneer Club (209 Jefferson Ave.) when BWO presents "HOLIDAY HARVEST!" Also appearing: Dr. Callahan, "Mr. Wolf" Evan Myers, The Insaniacs -Slayer & Section 8, Magic, Preacher, & more!

The fine folks at Ring of Honor have graciously allowed Headlocked comic books to be sold at their merchandise tables this weekend....so if you are attending All Star Extravaganza on Dec. 26th in Philly or Final Battle 08 in NYC on Dec. 27th, stop by the merchandise table and grab some books.

NOTE: These books will only be for sale at their shows and not on their website.

We will be selling complete sets of the entire Headlocked: The Tryout mini-series (issues 1-3) and a complete set of the entire Headlocked run (The Tryout and Work of Art) for sale.

So if you're at the show, stop by the merch table and check it out!

Last night at the first show of 2009 for JAPW a new stable formed consisting of Jay Briscoe, Brodie Lee and Necro Butcher. They call themselves the REDNECK WRECKING CREW. Probably had the most heat of the night.

Here are some more results:

Crowd Attendance - 400
Ring Announcers - Mike Sanz (1st Half) Mike Lewis (2nd Half)
Commentators - Mark Clemson, King Mort, Sean Hanson (color commentators alternated throughout the night)

The Heavy Hitters Def. The Osirian Portal via Greetings From Brooklyn from the top rope. The match saw Monsta Mack get hypnotized by the snake-like movements of Ophidian, resulting in Ophidian, Mack, and Amasis dancing to Michael Jackson's "Beat It" in one of the funniest spots of the night. The Portal received a please come back chant afterwards.

Don Juan Def. Sexxxy Eddy in a match that was not too well received by the crowd but entertaining to others. Sexxxy Eddy danced on top of a female he brought into the ring before the match started before Don Juan decided to break things up and get the match going. It might be a sign that the "Don Juan Experiment" is over.

Eddie Kingston Def. Dan Maff, Kevin Steen, & Archadia in a #1 contenders match for the NJ State Championship. Maff hit the Burning Hammer on Kevin Steen and Kingston the pinfall. Kingston & Maff exchange words after the match. What originally started out as a one-on-one encounter between Archadia and Kevin Steen turned out to become a fatal four way as both Eddie Kingston and Dan Maff took it upon themselves to become involved in the match under Wild Card rules. Kingston will face off against Bandido Jr. for the title at the Jersey City Rumble in February.

Homicide Def. Jay Briscoe. Before the match started, Homicide addressed the crowd about giving congratulations to his former student Low-Ki for signing to the WWE which followed with a video tribute highlighting some of Low-Ki's biggest moments in JAPW. After the video aired, Jay Briscoe snuck into the ring to start the match which went back and forth throughout but ultimately ended with Homicide hitting the Cop Killa on Jay.

INTERMISSION - Weirdest thing happened, little kids who didn't know any better asked me for autographs. I couldn't say no even though I warned them I'm just a ring announcer.

Bandido Jr. Def. B-Boy to retain the NJ State Championship. After the match Eddie Kingston runs out and jumps Bandido Jr. and they brawl to the back. Clips of this brawl will air on the next episode of JAPW World Wide.

DNA Def. The Garden State Gods & The Best Around in a triple threat tag team match to retain the JAPW Tag Team Championships. Once again, Wild Card rules came into effect as TJ Cannon and Bruce Maxwell, a.k.a. The Best Around, entered themselves in the match before it was given a chance to start. Corvis Fear nearly had his neck broken when Cannon hit a variation of Sliced Bread #2 that turned into a spike DDT at one point, but Dixie and Azrieal were able to retain while GSG vs TBA has been booked for the Jersey City Rumble.

Prince Mustafa Ali Def. Flip Kendrick, Amazing Red, and Louis Lyndon in a elimination match to win the new JAPW Light-Heavyweight Championship. Louis Lyndon was eliminated first, followed by Amazing Red and finally Flip Kendrick was eliminated by Ali to become the brand new Light-Heavyweight Champion.

Hernandez Def. Necro Butcher via Border Toss through a table that was set up in the corner. This match was a hardcore meltdown that saw it go to the outside many times. At one point, Necro gave Hernandez a bulldog off the apron to a table outside, causing Hernandez's front tooth to be pushed up into his gums. After the match Jay Briscoe attacked Hernandez who was followed by Homicide to come get his partner. From out of nowhere, Brodie Lee made his debut in JAPW assisting Jay Briscoe and Necro Butcher. All three beat down LAX and cut a promo trashing the fans which included the line of the night, "F**k Barack Obama!"

Next show will be the Jersey City Rumble featuring Demolition, Balls Mahoney, Elijah Burke, and the return of the Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega. More details to come on JAPW.net.

Damn....I'm sorry that I missed this show.

I'll be attending ROH's PPV in Chicago Ridge this weekend as they are once again allowing me to feature Headlocked at their merch table.

The card looks okay...a little down for a PPV to be honest.

Big War Games style steel cage blowout with Sweet and Sour Inc vs. Albright, Strong, Stevens, Jay Briscoe and TBA (assuming Ace Steel since its Chicago and a hardcore type match) They haven't announced the SNS team although Richards and Edwards are locks. I'm assuming they'll debut a new member since Hero is in Japan but the other slots could be Sara Del Rey and Bobby Dempsey which would be seriously underwhelming.

McGuiness vs. Generico should be cool even if it has no real story behind it as McGuiness has beaten Generico clean twice already.

For all the crap that Gabe has taken about no storylines, the storylines have taken a pretty big dump under the Pearce regime. We'll see.

Plus while in town I am planning on hitting Molly's cupcakes to get myself a "Ron Bennington's I've Got My Own Cupcake"

It'll be interesting to see what the terms are, if they ever get disclosed.

If ROH is paying for that time, then that is a poor business move (see ECW on TNN). If they get any kind of rights fees or production upgrades then it might not be so bad for them.

Here's hoping it works out for them.

Last night at the Jersey City Rumble, Jay Lethal won the battle royal that lead to an immediate championship match against Kenny Omega. The title changed hands subsequently due to Omega's partner in crime, Dan Maff, turning on him, allowing Lethal to pick up the victory. This is Jay's second Heavyweight Championship title in JAPW.

Yes, I know my mod quote says "God, I love indy wrestling." Yet at the same time there are many people in the business who help me hate it. For one, I believe there is an over saturation of wrestling in the area due to barely any regulation of it throughout the country. Anyone who has enough money can be a "promoter" but for the most part they don't know how to do it unlike real professionals around the area. Money marks ruin the business as well by just trying to become one of the boys by booking big names to their show so that they can feel more important than they are. No promotion can be a real breakout show because of the fact that it's too easy to put shows on. The over saturation drains any demand for a show in the area. I'm sure if it were to change, those who truly wanted to make sure they did business right would get their license and surely any wrestler would agree to do the same. It's how it used to be and it kept a lot of bad seeds out of the business. If I had the ability to, I'd build a show the right way, but there are too many disgusting people in the business that would try to shut me down with underhanded tactics because of their heartless self absorbed selfishness and disrespectful attitude towards a sport they supposedly love. It makes me sick sometimes.

Section 8
06-15-2009, 09:30 AM
I know that in NY you still need a license to run and you need a license to wrestle.

In PA, you need a license to run a promotion and all wrestlers have to supply ID proof that they are over the age of 18. NJ is the only one that's really unregulated right now.

It's not that hard to build a show/promotion up. Just do it in an area where no promotions run on a regular basis (and they are out there as there's a bunch of places to run in Central and South Jersey). You just need to see where other promotions run and try to stay the next town over, so you don't have to deal with the asshats.

That's the other thing I don't understand about indy promoters. Why the hell would you tear down posters and shit on shows that utilize the same people that you have on your shows? You are only hurting yourself and your product.

Independent circuit wrestlers should be allowed to work anywhere and for whomever they want. They are trying to get their name out there by wrestling as much as possible. When they become more known, people are more likely to buy tickets to see them, thereby putting more people in the seats, thereby making promoters more money.
You see where this is going?

Promoters have to stop shitting on each other and help each other build up solid promotions (maybe even have 'Invasion style' cross-promotion storylines) and thereby getting more people to come to the shows.

And that is a good thing for everyone in the business.

BodySlam Wrestling Organization returns to Garfield High School in Garfield, NJ on July 10th with "Americana". Proceeds from this show go to benefit the Garfield Little League.

Four matches are already signed and there are more to be announced:

BWO World Heavyweight Champion "The Chosen One" Steve Off defends his title against Don Montoya. These two have been feuding for months with the champ taking shortcuts to keep the gold around his waist. Montoya has gone on record to say that no shortcuts will help Steve Off in this match. Will there be a surprise stipulation for this match? You'll have to show up and find out!

BWO United States Champion "The Legend "Magic finally gives "The Flyin' Hawai'ian" Kekoa his rematch. In the match that Kekoa lost his US title to Magic, Magic hit him with the Shoalin Prayer, one of the most dangerous moves in professional wrestling, injuring Kekoa's neck and supposedly putting Kekoa out of action for 6 months. Kekoa went thru an extensive and exhaustive rehab to come back early to get his title back. Magic kept putting roadblock after roadblock in Kekoa's way, hoping that his delay tactics would result in Kekoa getting re-injured, thereby making him easy pickings. Kekoa has withstood all Magic has thrown at him so far. Kekoa finally gets his rematch that he has worked so hard for.

Last night at WXW-C4's annual participation in Allentown, Pennsylvania's Sportsfest, I got to make my professional managing debut as my new alter-ego, Drake Sinclair, super-agent to the stars. My client that night was a newer member of the WXW roster, the New Age Samoan, King Bash. The crowd ate it up as he entered the battle royal and made the most eliminations of the match and of course booed my antics (which I loved).

Samu, member of the legendary Anoa'i samoan family and promoter of WXW-C4, went up to me and said, "I like your style. Come back August 8th and we'll see what you really can do." Needless to say I was extremely excited and can't wait for the next show. Footage of the match should soon be up on HybridEnt.TV on their Blast TV program.

PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING Returns To Monday Night!
Monday, July 27, 2009
For years now in the United States, Monday night has been considered THE night for professional wrestling, and Ring of Honor is now poised to continue that tradition. Together, ROH and HDNet are very happy to announce that effective Monday, August 17th, the acclaimed ‘Ring of Honor on HDNet’ will now air each and every Monday night at 8pm EST!

With this transition to a prime time slot, ROH is now in a position to kick off your Monday night wrestling viewing with a humongous bang, as we bring you what we believe is pound-for-pound the BEST wrestling program on television today. This move places ROH on HDNet in a position to gain more viewership, particularly among fans that are already accustomed to watching on that night. And for those fans that are unable to view the program at 8pm EST, HDNet is going to replay all of the action again at 11pm EST!

Please join ROH on August 17th as we make the jump to Monday night, and if you can’t watch HDNet in your area, now is the time to contact your local cable provider and let them know that you want your ‘Ring of Honor Wrestling on HDNet’ – COMING TO MONDAY NGHTS STARTING AUGUST 17!

Bryan Danielson has signed a deal with the WWE.

SpicyMcHaggis
09-05-2009, 09:34 AM
Nigel McGuinness has signed a deal with WWE. These ROH guys are hopefully going to make a good impact in the WWE. Imagine a few years from now a WrestleMania filled with former ROH stars like Danielson, McGuinness, Kaval (Low-Ki), Evan Bourne, and CM Punk. Apparently The Briscoes and Claudio Castagnoli might be next.

I knew TV would be the death of ROH.

3Setsof10
09-05-2009, 09:37 AM
You hope that they'll be used well, but sadly we've seen so many examples of it not happening

They're signed solely so ROH can't have them. Bryan Danielson is a great wrestler but he's small and they don't use his style

SpicyMcHaggis
09-05-2009, 12:49 PM
The same was said about CM Punk and Evan Bourne but that argument speaks for itself now. Danielson can adapt to any style. Nigel will be a formidable opponent if they ever get him in the ring with Regal. If the Briscoes show up they'll have to slow them down a bit but they should still be good. Claudio's got the whole package already.

Oh and if anyone's interested, here's episode 2 of NWA NJ Slamcast:

Former WWE, ECW and current TNA Superstar Stevie Richards makes his return! He's not happy about the BWO running under the initials that he made popular with the Blue World Order in ECW. He's already attacked BWO Owner Glenn Ulrich once. What will he do this month?

Former WWE and ECW Superstar, Nunzio will also be in action!

Matches signed so far:

Steve Off vs Joey Da Bull
Joey got himself involved at the end of Steve Off's hardcore match against Preacher at last month's show, depriving Off of the victory. Steve has sworn revenge against Joey for his interference.

Richie Rotten/Bob Arian vs James Weck/Tony Schoff
These four men have been beating the hell out of each other for months now. After the dirty diaper episode from two months ago, Weck and Schoff said they wanted nothing to do with Rotten and Arian, claiming an end to their feud. Wech and Schoff changed their minds last month and got involved in Rotten's match, reigniting the feud. The challenge was made and Rotten and Arian accepted.

BWO Heavyweight Champ Dan Murdoch takes on the next potential #1 contender in a 10 minute challenge. If his challenger can either beat Murdoch or survive for 10 minutes, they become #1 contender for the BWO Heavyweight Championship.

Arlene vs Spyra Andover
This one has been brewing for months. Preacher brought Spyra into his congregation to back him up at ringside during his feud with Steve Off. Arlene, Preacher's wife, was not happy with the fact that this new girl was taking over her spot at Preacher's side. When things came to blows between Spyra and Arlene, Preacher sided with Spyra, further infuriating Arlene. Arlene has since gotten a divorce from Preacher and has made Spyra her primary target.

Damien Darling vs Rob Fury
Fury was in the stands last month and started running his mouth at Damien Darling. Darling acknowledged that he knew Fury wasn't a fan, but actually a wrestler. Heated words then furious fists were exchanged and security was called to escort Fury out of the building. Damien requested that the BWO sign Fury so he can "beat some respect" into him. The Arrogant Super Star, Rob Fury gladly accepted the challenge stating that he wanted to prove to everyone just how good he is.

In order for this match to take place, the board of directors had an emergency meeting last night and had Weck and Rotten sign a contract that made the match non-sanctioned, absolving the BWO from any damages and injuries that will occur during this match. This feud has been brought to a head and Rotten swears that this will be either the end of the feud or the end of someone's career.

FIRST IWGP INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION TO BE CROWNED NEXT MONTH AT NEW JAPAN EAST COAST INVASION!

New Japan Pro Wrestling has always been known as the "King of Sports" for a reason. From their creation many years ago, NJPW has always prided itself on providing the most hard-hitting athletic competition globally for professional wrestling.

Chief among those athletic classics are NJPW's own unique brand of tournament, the G-1 Climax. When New Japan Pro Wrestling comes to the United States next month for their first-ever "East Coast Invasion" they will not only be debuting their first new championship in over a decade but bringing a multi-day tournament to the States to crown that inaugural champion, G-1 Climax style.

A tournament to crown the first-ever International Wrestling Grand Prix Intercontinental Champion will commence Friday May 13th in Rahway, NJ, continuing in New York City on Saturday May 14th before crowning the first champion upon the completion of the finals on Sunday May 15th at the Asylum (formerly ECW) Arena in Philadelphia, PA. In three cities renowned for their love of true pro wrestling, NJPW, in conjunction with JAPW Promotions, will present their one of a kind strong style wrestling as well as global history for the first time ever in the United States.

For ticket information on all NJPW East Coast Invasion events, visit www.JAPW.net.

Here is an overview of the championship tournament's first round:

*The master of "Ghetto Strong Styles", former WWE United States champion MVP is looking to have his first taste of Japanese championship gold in the tournament. MVP will face Kazuchika Okada, who is currently wrestling for an extended tour of TNA. With all the additional seasoning Okada is receiving during his training Stateside, he can't be underestimated by anyone, least of all MVP, who has taken the Japanese wrestling world by storm in recent months.

*Hideo Saito returns to New Japan Pro Wrestling after an extended tour of Puerto Rico and wants to return to Japan with the IWGP Inter-Continental Championship around his waist. To do so, he will have to go through Team No Limit's Yujiro Takahashi, seeking to earn his first ever singles championship in New Japan.

*Tetsuya Naitō, the other half of Team No Limit, is likewise on a quest for his first singles championship victory, but to advance, he will have to defeat the wild card of the tournament, Tama Tonga. A newcomer to New Japan, Tonga comes from the toughest pedigree in wrestling, the son of former WWE star Haku. Tonga wants to bring honor and glory to his family while extending the legacy of his father, the former WWF King and Tag Team champion.

*If anyone has the home field advantage in the opening round of the tournament, “The Bayonne Badass” Dan Maff enters the tournament in Rahway representing both the Garden State and his home promotion JAPW. While Maff is known for being one of the baddest men in the Arena whenever he steps into Rahway, his first round opponent carries the same distinction when he competes in Japan. Maff will be facing renowned tough guy and decorated Greco-Roman wrestler, Toru Yano, who fears no man.

The first round of the IWGP Intercontinental Tournament will take place in Rahway, which will also feature the Dream Tag Team bout of “The Strong Style Thugz”, Homicide and Low Ki facing the legendary Jushin “Thunder” Liger and Tiger Mask IV at the Rahway Recreation Center on Friday May 13th.

ALL PROCEEDS FROM BWO's JANUARY SHOW, SHOWDOWN, TO BENEFIT "LET THEM BE LITTLE X2"

We at BWO are excited to be working with a very special organization on January 21st. Please take a few minutes to read about a very special organization that we at Bodyslam Wrestling Organization are proud to exclusively support in our January outing, Showdown.

Let Them Be Little X2 is a special trust set up for the Leider family and their two boys Jason, 4, and Justin, 2. Both Jason and Justin suffer from an incredibly rare genetic disease called Hunter's Syndrome, (or MPS-2, Mucopolysaccharidoses-2), a disease which renders the body's cells unable to dispose of waste products as cells normally do in order to remain productive within the body. A child stricken with Hunter's Syndrome has cells that store an abnormal amount of waste, which causes irreparable damage to the child's brain and every other system in his body. In the United States, only 330 children have this condition. In New Jersey, there are 6. 2 of them are Jason and Justin Leider.

The presence of Hunter's Syndrome renders most children unable to walk or function normally by the age of 12, and very few children affected live over the age of 15. The Leider Family request to all of you reading is simple: They want their children to enjoy being young. They want to make their lives with this painful, crippling condition as happy as possible for the brief time they have.

Our hearts go out to the Leider family, and we intend to put on a stellar show on January 21st, and we want all of you to be there to lend your support. Every dollar taken in will go to the Leider Family to assist them in pursuing treatment, recreation, and whatever else they require to have a memorable life with their boys.

Find out more about The Leider Family, their mission, and how you can help at http://www.letthembelittlex2.com/

BWO Presents... REVELATIONS!

Last month at Payback Preacher won control of the BWO from then current owner Glenn Ulrich. However, after the match, BWO President Section 8 came out to congratulate Preacher, only to get a superkick to his head as thanks, leaving him unconscious. What is the fate of the company now that it's "Under New Management"?

The tournament for the #1 Contendership for the BWO US Title comes to an end, as Darius Carter and Marker Dillinger compete for the right to a match against current Champ Steve Off! Both men have held the US Title before, so they are both chomping at the bit for the chance to reclaim what was lost!

Also, Joey da Bull takes on BWO Heavyweight Champ Tristen Law for the gold!

Ray Ray Marz invokes his rematch clause to challenge Steve Off for the US Title!
