Lets say the Debate goes on as planned on friday (as it should)...anyone who is smart enough wanna come up with a drinking game based around this? I want to watch it and get fucked up!
Maybe we can put together some rules and a mod could put the rules on the front page.
What you think?

Any time a promise for change is made that the president alone has no ability to fulfill.
I'm just gonna set up an IV drip of booze.

and all die of alcohol poisoning in the first 20 minutes

chug a liter of whiskey or vodka if McCain calls Obama a nigger or Obama calls McCain a "Cracker ass Cracker"
I'll get you drunk real quick: take a belt every time you hear "change", "the American people" and "working families".

Can't we have something candidate-specific?
Like every time John McCain says "my friends" (that would've done me in during his acceptance speech, I can tell you that) ?
Does Barack Obama even have a tag line like that, though?

As he pours half a 40 on the ground in remembrance.
What?

with a speech its easier because they are more likely to use your buzz word.
but you gotta take a drink everytime "change" is said is an obvious rule
You have to take a shot everytime the candidates touch (so in the begining when they shake hands you start out with a touch)
Anyone seen any of these guys debate before and are aware of their ticks?

That's a waste of a 40. I prefer to pour it into my stomach.

Debates on TV aren't really 'debates' in the sense that you're extemporaneously pulling something out to refute someone's answer. They're more like a series of prepared remarks with the best effort made to antagonize the other side without looking like a lunatic or a meanie. (Because, you know, meanies don't play well in Iowa.)
They may as well be speeches. Using that reasoning, I stand by my original assessment that McCain will rely on the "my friends" verbal crutch, just as Obama will likely rely on the "um-uh" verbal crutch. Everyone has them; we don't always notice them in ourselves, but we sure as shit notice them in others. (I use the "um-uh" myself when I'm nervous; other times, I'll rely on "so...". Matty uses "and everything like that" when he's nervous. I'm sure you have one yourself ... but that's another topic for another forum.)
Is there any place we can get a list of the questions the moderator will be asking? Because that'll narrow it down to what answers we can expect and make it easier to figure out which items can go on the list.

I'd be down, but I doubt I'll watch since it's on Friday.
Who the hell holds a debate on a Friday??
It's ridiculous. Nobody will watch.

GAZ - You may wanna try this for a drinking game. Please remember that these are for a drink, not the entire drink. If you did the entire thing...you may hurt yourselves. So with that said, tonights focus is supposed to be on foreign affairs.
1 drink for mentions of the following:
Georgia (nation)
Bin Laden
McCain using "my friends"
Engagement (as in diplomatic talks with "enemies")
Answers that include the name Jim (Jim Lehrer is the moderator)
Mideastern Oil
Obama using the word "look" (his verbal cue of "cutting to the heart of the matter")
Torture
2 drinks
McCain using the "gates of hell" phrase about Bin Laden
McCain using P.O.W.
3drinks
Obama dropping a version of "nice to see you" to McCain as a dig
Get hammered
Big Fat Tootsie Roll Penis

i went to the rachel maddow website for some ideas on the drinking games and that booze lovin' dyke already had a drinking game up  (some of these are obviously a joke)
there it is... pick and choose whatever you like :drunk:
NOTE: you can of course drink something non-alcoholic but if you do choose to go the booze route Rachel suggests beer or a half-strength high ball: one ounce of booze in an eight-ounce glass filled with ice and topped with seltzer.
drink once...
if mccain says:
prison
vietnam
table
chair
drink twice...
if mccain says "marie the flame of florida"
drink once if obama says...
anything about protecting main street and not just wall street
drink once if either candidate...
uses jim lehrer's first name in an answer
drink once if obama...
uses the phrase mccain-bush or bush-mccain
drink once if mccain says...
my friends
drink twice if...
obama displays his most presidential ability -- being able to do two things at once -- by patting his head and rubbing his tummy at the same time
drink twice if...
anyone says "first dude"
drink twice if...
anyone's cellphone goes off and it's giuliani's wife calling
drink once if...
obama references that in order to capture bin laden you have to go not to the gates of hell but rather to a country that rhymes with shmakisatan
drink everything in the house if...
governor palin shows up in mccain's place
quit drinkin forever if...
mccain declares war on someone new (iraq, afghanistan, russia and iran don't count since he's already done the deed with them)

oh cool...whenever the viewing thread is started i'll add this. But it needs some simple rules like "Take a gulp of beer whenever McCain or Obama starts speaking". The list is missing some things that are consistent and i'm not going to sit there for minutes at a time holding a beer and not drinking it!

heres a more serious list that will hopefully have us drinking more:
drink when
when either candidate starts to speak
either candidate says the word "change"
drink twice when
the word "afghanistan" or "iraq" is mentioned
President Bush's name is mentioned
McCain uses the term "Liberal"
the word "experience" is said
a candidate mentions their wife's name (michelle or cindy)
either candidate refers to the moderator by name
the candidates talk to eachother
take a shot when
a candidate swears
either candidate vomits and/or faints
a candidate breaks into tears
a candidate shits their pants noticeably
sarah palin is refered to as a "cunt"
Obama is called a "nigger"
McCain is called a "Cracka ass crack" or "a honky motherfucker"

say what you will about rachel, but she ALWAYS has drinking games for major political events. she really loves her booze and has a little segment on her show for "mixologists" whenever she visits a new place.
