Venezuela set to go nuclear

It wouldn't be a huge deal, because like the article says, Brazil and Argentina have nuclear reactors.

But what makes this a little more disconcerting are two things.

1) The recent military training alliance between Venezuela and Russia
2) The very provoking/threating attitude the Bush administration has taken towards Chavez all along.

So there's absolutely some security concerns.

Ehhhhhhh...I don't know that I'd necessarily argue against that.

But an argument can also be made that the way Bush pretty much lined up fiercely against Chavez from the beginning may have escalated it the hatred and forced Chavez to seek these alliances.

So while he deserves some credit, I imagine he bears some blame in the deterioration of the situation.

To what degree, no one knows at this point, and may never know.
