I have not posted much upon this thread. I think I'll start posting more now that I have a new job that allows me time to jump on while the show is going.
For the gentleman with the moral conundrum; I feel that you should make the phone call and if a interview is requested of you, you should ask politely for it to be set up perhaps tomorrow or the day after. Tell them you have previous engagements later in the day. And then after you feel good about not shirking your responsibilities, get straight to the booze. I think you'll enjoy your high more knowing that you made the call.

I think the problem is, we are at a very polarizing time in terms of religions and beliefs. This "new" movement of Evangelical Christianity, prosperity churches, fundamentalism in both Muslim believers and Judeochristian believers is really pushing it all to a head. Atheists are still labeled as evil, that they must not have any morals because they do not believe in a higher power. People are pushing back.

Einstein has a theory of relativity. It's not a law because we haven't been able verify the theory fully so that it's a law.

And our inability to verify doesn't mean that the theory isn't wrong. Often it's because we don't have the ability right now to prove the theory. And yet, people deriding science will assert that if we can't verify it fully, it's the same as a religious belief.

The ultimate response though was Ron's point that scientists are willing to change their theories based upon proof that the theory is wrong. Religious zealots are not willing and will twist themselves into pretzels to say that they are still right because the devil planted fossills, etc.
