Specifically I am thinking of the George Foreman G5
Does anyone have one? Is it good? I like it because you can take the plates out and wash them. I have a similar one that I never use because it is such a hassle to wash.

I have the original and it's easy to take the plates out and wash them. And the kids love burgers cooked on the Foreman Grill.

I really like this version of the foreman grill the best. It is great for bacon, and I just used it to make waffles for the first time last weekend. Turned out pretty good. The removable plates make it much easier to clean than the earlier versions, and all the different plates you can put in allow you to get rid of like 3 other kitchen gadgets that take up space.

I used to have a GF, but then as a housewarming gift I got one of these. It comes with the griddle inserts to, its way better in my opinion.
Edit: Its a cuisinart panini press

I have the older version, but the griddles are still removable for easy clean-up. Makes an excellent grilled cheese, all panini-like with the lines.

they are fun for a little bit, then it will just take up too much room

Why does anyone need these things if you have a cook top? Is it just for the grill marks? You can get a cast iron stove top grill for like 10 bucks.

I ended up getting this one instead. I had a 30% off coupon for Khols and it ended up being $83.00 I went out and got chicken breasts, rub, bbq sauce, onions, squash, portobello mushrooms, potatoes, peppers etc. I used it and it performed wonderfully. I am not a big fan of the stainless steel, but I will live with it. I think its made better than the Foreman grill. The plates seemed sturdier and fit better. The chicken came out perfect. It can open up completely flat and do some stuff that the Foreman cannot. The Foreman does a few things that this does not, but for what I need it for, I think I made a good choice. I havent had waffles in years anyway.

Anybody that buys one of these things obviously is a hayseed, a layman, a rube and thinks that cooking involves opening some kind of can.

I love mine. It frees up the stove top to cook other things at the same time. Although it isn't the same as a grill (the place I used to live had a normal grill and I miss it so) its practical.

i'm sad to say this, but my stove is old and does not have a build-in grill or anything like that. hell, only 3 of the burners work anyways. damn, i need to replace that.

I've gotten both the forman grill and the food networks pannini maker as gifts. The forman is a pain to keep clean and is kindof awkword to use. The food networks pannini maker with wafle griddle and grill incerts, is by far the better product in my opinion. the plates are removable making cleanup easy. It takes large samiches and other item because the top isn't attached to the bottom with a piviot like the forman. It has better temp control. The stainless is a little bit difficult to keep clean however fingerprints on it every time you touch it.

Ya it cooks really well, it got me threw the 2 yrs I was in a 3rd floor apartment and couldn't have a grill on my balcony. It opened up flat and it served its purpose.

Do you use any cooking spray like Pam before you use yours?

Do you use any cooking spray like Pam before you use yours?
ALWAYS... makes it easier to clean.
that's an old trick. especially because i often make my moms homemade sauce... using PAM or another cooking spray in the plastic containers helps deter any staining the sauce may do. a helpful hint!

Thanks! I used it the first time last night and had a tough time cleaning it's "non-stick" plates. I bought some Pam today.

I have been cooking on this quite often now. Tonight I am grilling some red potatoes drizzled with olive oil and oregano. I am also grilling some Korean squash and vidalia onions. Then I have been marinating boneless pork chops for two days in wine and garlic and I am gonna grill them up goooood.
