This cocksucker is killing me. I started off taking Advil Liquid gels all they did was make the pain bearable. I moved on to Aleve, which I bought last summer when we were in the States, you need a prescription for them here. They did about as much as the Advil. This afternoon I broke down and went to the pharmacy and bought Tylenol with codeine (8mg). They have been working but the pain only goes away for 4 hrs, which is the recommended time between doses. I just took 2 more, I am up to 6 so far today and the recommended daily dosage is 12 tablets. The amazing thing with these is that I can feel the exact moment when they kick in, its like a switch being turned off....headache then no headache.
I am starting to get worried. It has been a long time since I have had a headache like this and that was usually hormonal. I know for a fact that is not the cause of this one. It has been pretty dreary here lately and I am wondering if it could be a migraine triggered by low pressure (it has been snowing on and off since yesterday, raining the day before that). The pain is radiating up the back of my head into the base of my skull then wrapping around the right side to my eye. I took some Advil cold & sinus last night thinking it may be sinus related but nothing from that either, I still woke up with the bastard.
I just want it to stop....:help:

I have slept, but I have woken up with the headache. As for nausea not bad enough to make me feel like throwing up.
I did put an ice pack on the back of my neck and it helped a bit, but stupid me I forgot it at work.

Check with Doc Steve - why are you asking us assholes?

You probably have a hamster in your brain... just put a piece of lettuce in your mouth and wait.

You fuckers....laughter is making me feel better but my head still hurts.
I drink a lot of coffee and the caffeine hasn't really helped, but the Tylenol with codeine also contains caffeine so I guess in a way it helps.
I have since moved on to wine, if I am going to have a headache anyway I might as well
give myself a reason for one. Or, maybe it will be like Earth 2 and drinking too much wine will make my headache go away....one can only hope.

Why don't you go to your medical doctor? Maybe it could be a symptom of something more serious like high blood pressure, withdrawal from a drug, stress, etc. Fuck that over the counter shit and get something stronger.

.

Decrease your caffeine use and lay off the wine. The caffeine is a stimulant and the wine is more of a depressant. Plus you're taking all these over the counter remedies. Why don't you go visit your doctor if you've had this headache for more than 3 days. It may be an ailment of some other condition.

OK, on the serious side.

Do you have a cold? Are your sinuses stuffed (tightness in your nose at all?)

Ever had a migraine? Does you family have a history of migraines? Is the headache in your temples or in the front of your head?

Does it come on in the morning after having been horizontal for the night or does it come on at the end of the day after having been vertical for the day?

Damned socialized medicine.

^^^ trust me...it ain't all its cracked up to be Sinestro. It is unbelievably hard to get a Dr. appt. here (small northern city) and when you do you most likely won't be able to understand them. The majority of doctors we have here are from Egypt and the middle east, they come here for a year or 2 then move on. Its pretty bad when even Canadians don't want to come here to work because of the isolation.

I'll just continue to self medicate and if it gets too bad I will head into the emerg. room since it is Thanksgiving this weekend that's the only place there will be doctors anyway.

Independence day July 1, Thanksgiving in October. When's Christmas, November 18? No wonder you have a headache, your calendar is all fucked up.

If this continues please see a doctor. I'm not trying to scare you but my mother was getting horrible headaches and optical migraines; my father use to joke with her that "it's not a tooooma", turns out it was, granted she was experiencing other symptoms as well.

P.S. we still laugh at the toooma jokes.

Woke up sans headache this morning. I think posting this thread last night was a little like an exorcism. Get out ye daemon headache....
Unfortunately I did wake up with a sore throat so I guess the headache was a symptom of bigger things after all.

HEY! Sorry I didn't notice this thread got moved into here. Feel free to PM me anytime that happens!

You must live in Canada...we can't just go buy tylenol with codeine in the US over the counter

Ok, first thing: if you have a headache that is the worst headache you've ever had in your life, don't post it to a fansite...go see a medical professional! :-) I know it can be expensive, and you're almost guaranteed to get an MRI of the brain out of it, but if you're not a recurrent headache patient (e.g., recurrent migraines), this could be a serious symptom. Most likely not, but the serious stuff needs to be ruled out.

Headaches blow. They are a significant source of suffering around the world, and cause a lot of lost productivity as well. I'm a latecomer to this thread so I'll go read the rest of the posts and see if you've posted any followups (probably should have read the whole thread first before posting). Let me know if I can do anything for you on this.

your friend,

steve

Thanks Dr.Steve.
I actually have an appt with an eye doctor next week. I have noticed that my vision has been changing and rapidly I must say. I am hoping it will be solved with a checkup. There has also been a bad cold/flu going around here and most ppl say the first symptom is a headache and I did wake up with a bit of a sore throat yesterday morning. As of right now it feels like it is lurking and waiting to latch back on again. I am not 100% convinced it isn't weather related either, stoopid low pressure systems....blah.
I will post an update when I find out anything.

let me know about the eye thing...that could be a lot of things, including just a change in refraction --> change in prescription --> headache. Any rapid change in vision warrants a checkup with a good eye doctor, though, so I'm glad you're going. PM me if you post in here and I don't get back to you quickly...for some reason, when I login the system doesn't always show me threads with new posts in them.

your pal,

steve
