Thanks y'all. I did have a good birthday. I woke up too broke to buy bottled water for my morning coffee, so I went to the bookshelf to grab some of the books people have left behind in my apartment to sell for a little spending money. I thumbed through the first book, Three Short Novels of William Faulkner and a $50 bill fell out of it. Happy Birthday to me!

Later I set out to break my burpee goal I've been hoping to do for the last few months. I was worried, though, that I didn't feel like I usually do when I break records anymore - like crap. Lately, I can only break records if I'm not trying to, and in fact, when I don't feel like working out at all and I force myself to. This wasn't one of those days. But I had trained hard up until three days before by b-day and then done nothing and I was able to take almost 30 seconds off my time and make the goal. Broke my pullup goal too.

Went movie shopping with a Cambonadian (Cambodian/Canadian) friend and found Raising Arizona for the first time in four years abroad. Happy Birthday to me!

Went and played poker with the boys at night and, before the game, some sexy woman who knows my name pulls me aside and asks if I'll be a model for her friend with a clothing store. So now I'm doing that on Saturday, and hopefully her shortly after. Happy Birthday to me!

I was losing at poker most of the night - never play poker when you're short on cash - but I managed to break even in the last half hour by beating a dickead frenchie who's pegged himself as my nemesis on three hands.

So my 40th wasn't so bad after all. I'm especially stoked about making my fitness goals - mainly because in the rest of the aspects of my life I'd be really proud of myself if I was only turning 20.
