Toshiba Laptops

anyone know anything about Toshiba...I know their other electronics are rated pretty well

my dad is getting me one for my bday...its on sale for around 500 and comes with wireless router and a printer with mail in rebates

are these good computers? i just havnt heard too much about them

I've had my Satellite for nigh on six years. I traveled on buses, trains, foot and subways from CT, The Bronx, and Yonkers down to the The Village carrying it in a backpack for 4 years. My wife can't believe, after everything I've put it through physically and virtually, that it performs as well as it does, while her Dell Desktop shuts down on her all of the time.

I highly recommend a Toshiba laptop.

New Toshibas were announced yesterday, so make sure you're getting one of those, not a discount on an older one.

I got a Satellite in the spring and couldn't be happier with it.

I prefer Dell myself, but any review I've ever read about Toshiba has been very good - excellent.

I've had two - the latest is a Satellite M55-S293.

It has a problem with the lcd (it blinks on and off whenever I open or close the lid). The DVD player also won't read most discs. I'm not really happy with it, and I wouldn't buy another - I'll probably be going with Dell next time.

Sarah had a Satellite that we were incredibly displeased with. The case was cheap, the LCD screen looked like hell and started to blink, eventually it stopped reading the power cord and we replaced it with a Dell which somehow sucked worse. We've since replaced that with a Digital Storm, which is miles ahead of both the Toshiba and the Dell in terms of value, speed, storage, AND build quality.
