I think there's a couple of ways to do it depending on what state you are in, but I know in most states if you request an absentee ballot, that's one way to do it.

I think it depends on your state. Go to the government voting pages and see if it's available. I'm doing it here in Texas. I do it every time I vote, it's great. I've heard it's much easier for voting fraud though (on both sides), but I think it's convenient.

Not sure if this is true or not, or if it matters, but I heard if you do absentee that they only count your vote if it's too close to call. Otherwise they only count the people who go to a booth in person.

I wish I could vote early. Beer, Jr. is sure to arrive somewhere in the first two weeks in November. I want to get this voting thing out of the way now, just in case.
Oh well, at least I don't live in a swing state. Pretty much can guess who NY is going to.

My husband and I voted on Tuesday and we still had to wait 30-45 minutes. I'm so glad we don't have to go on election day.
It's the first time he's ever voted and we just cancelled each other out so it was kind of a waste of time. I still wanted to go though.

Today was the last day for early voting in Texas, so I went and stood in line after work. It took a little more than an hour, but I've heard about much longer waits at different locations. It will be interesting to see what the lines are like on Tuesday.

according to the Milwaukee Journal, the waits to early vote have been around 90 minutes. Better bring a book.

Kentucky refuses to alow early voting, and the polls are only open 6 am - 6 pm on Election Day. My voting place is actually in the clubhouse of an apartment complex next to me. I just have a feeling it's going to be a total mess. It was a pain in the ass in the primary, which got about a 40% turnout here, and they're expecting at least 75% turnout Tuesday.
But I'll do my part to rid the Senate of Mitch McConnell. I can't promise I'll turn this state blue, but I think Obama's going to do better than people expect. I don't think the hayseeds outside of Louisville and Lexington will vote for Obama, but his support in the two big urban areas (not counting the Cincinnati suburbs of Northern Kentucky) is quite strong.
