View Full Version : Should I buy now or wait for Black Friday?
Freitag

The TV I want is now on sale for about 1300, no tax, no shipping.
The question is, do I wait for black Friday or make the move now?
By comparison, Best Buy has it for 2000.
Decisions, decisions.

Wait wait wait.
Not only are the prices gonna be low for Thanksgiving/Christmas season......but remember that the digital TV cut-over is happening in February 2009 (http://www.obsessable.com/news/2008/09/22/the-digital-tv-cutover-explained/). There are going to be a lot of people saying "Ya know what? Why bother with this crap, and let's go buy a new TV". Prices will drop pretty low.

The digital crossover is not going to affect a large portion of the American population.

Yeah, that was a head-scratcher. But, there will probably be all kinds of "switch-over" sales after Christmas.

decreased stock (product scarcity) would also raise prices.
mind you, i'm not saying prices will grow up, i just don't think your logic is working superbly.

If there are more buyers, stores will need to compete with each other less, hence less of a price drop. Decreased stock also does nothing to decrease prices.

buy now
1300 is a good price
so you may save 100 bucks, or you may get screwed
no times for what ifs
especially if u have the $$, you stocks and mutual funds may deteriorate by Black Friday
YOU BUY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
a good price is a good price, if you've been wanting it for a while
of course, the price could go down, but you never know
if you get it now and the price goes down in 5 weeks, you'll say to yourself there's no way you'd give up your new awesome tv for a hundred lousy bucks (time value of awesome)
and you could go to the store on black friday to find that the tv is "out of stock"

ANC, you're a good man, but I've never seen "great prices" from Crutchfield as opposed to other internet retailers. The main reason you go to Crutchfield is because of the their AMAZING service.
The Samsung prices they have are WAY overpriced. Better than bestbuy, but not better than this deal.

I got my samsung 46" matte finish TV around Mother's day with wall mount, wires, tax, and a 2 year service agreement for $1150. PC Richards is the best because you can negotiate the prices a bit, plus you don't have to pay for shipping if you take it home yourself.

That had to be a 4 or 5 series.
I didn't get the service agreement; my credit card covers the warranty.
Plus there's always squaredeal.
