Police were sent to the home of former Knicks executive Isiah Thomas in response to a call that he overdosed on sleeping pills, according to the web site of New York City’s CBS affiliate Friday.

The report also states that police were called to his home just after midnight in response to a 911 call. Barry Watkins, VP of communications for Madison Square Garden, told The Journal News that "Isiah is fine." Hopefully that's the case, but this is not the kind of headline Donnie Walsh wanted to deal with four days prior to the start of the season. Oct. 24 - 3:47 pm et

Why would Donnie Walsh care that a now menial employee of the Knicks organization OD'ed?

It's not like Isiah has any power in the organization now.

Yeah, seriously. If anything this is good news for the Knicks, it just means Zeke won't be around for a while.

I was gonna go for the "Boy, Isiah can't do anything right!" joke, but it looks like I've been beaten to the punch.

Another proud day for the Knickerbocker franchise.

Thats not true, I'm sure he can still bring the team down some way.

He's apparently as good at managing his meds as he was at managing the team.

From the Post:

Former Knicks coach Isiah Thomas was taken to the hospital early this morning because he overdosed on sleeping pills at his Westchester home, authorities said.

When reached on his cell phone today, Thomas, 47, inexplicably denied those claims, and insisted his 17-year-old daughter Lauren was the one who was having an issue but it "wasn't an overdose."

"My daughter is very down right now. None of us are OK," he told The Post.

Did he trade draft picks and pay a shitload of money to get the pills?

This is a very weird story. Authorities plainly claimed it was a 47 year old man who OD'd on pills, Isiah's saying it wasn't him, it was his 17 year old daughter, and she didn't OD on anything.

Someone's lying, and I think Isiah has much more of a reason to lie than the cops.

This follow up story on the incident has this line in it:

Harrison Police Chief David Hall refuted Thomas' statement about his daughter to the New York Times on Friday night.

"I understand that this person claims it was his daughter; he is lying," Hall told the newspaper. "It was definitely not his daughter, it was a male. We know the difference between a 47-year-old black male and a young black female."
