I'm sure we had this post before, but today I was looking through my old records (that's VINYL, kids!) and came across a bunch of '45s.

The Jam: Town Called Malice and News of the World

Various Artists: Sun City

REM: The One I Love

The Replacements: Can't Hardly Wait

U2: I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

These are only the ones I saved. I wish I could hear the theme to the Greatest American Hero or Juice Newton just one more time!

45's were my passion. I collected hundreds as a kid, I wish I kept some. I had all the Beatles Capitol and Apple stuff, Top 40/Pop/Bubblegum hits, Motown and whatever was on the top 100 that week.
I even bought some 45's during the punk days in the 70's. I had The Sex Pistols(with Glen Matlock, NOT Sid), Ramones imports from England and many more. I always loved my 45's, even those yellow disc things you had to stick in them! LOL

Alice, I just found my British import single of Blondie's "Sex Offender". Care to play it at full blast and jump up and down on the couch? ;)

I still have a lot of my 45's. I just don't have a record player. The pictured sleeves would probably be worth money on my Beatles 45's if I didn't draw mustaches and beards on them. I wish I could play my Stones, "This May Be the Last Time". Haven't heard it in years.

I remember having "Hey Joe" by Hendrix on 45. I think I used it for target practice with my BB Gun.

Remember "EP's"? Epic put out a bunch, including Cheap Trick, The Clash and Gary Glitter.

The very first 45 that I bought was at the Woolworths in Lynbrook. My Mom said that my brother and I could each pick one 45 and she would purchase it for us.

My choice? "I'm A Believer" by the Monkees. In retrospect, my brother's choice was much hipper...

"What's New Pussycat" by Tom Jones

with all this talk of 45's, I am going through my closets and just found a stack of them. I have to go through them. I also have a few albums here including bootlegs and imports. Now all I need is a needle for my "Phonograph"

I stumble around the Irish Rivieria

I still have all of my 45's. They're mostly from 1975-1985. Unfortunately they're also a big mixed up group of disco tracks, has beens and one hit wonders. I also remember going to the store and staring up at the big wall of 45's. They were all in their own little cubby holes, arranged by chart position. My Mom would do the same thing, with letting my pick one out. It was always a tough choice.

My most embarrassing 45?
Leif Garrett, "I Was Made For Dancing"

I do however have a really nice collection of albums! I've been going to garage sales buying old records from people. Most people sell them for a dollar a piece!

I've got so many awesome records this way.

Beatles, Led Zep, Neil Young, The Who, Hendrix, The Smiths, R.E.M., Floyd, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, John Lennon, Allman Bros., Muddy Waters, Bowie, The Stones, Springsteen, Clapton, U2, Elton John....

Alice,

When you mentioned 45's,I immediately thought of one of my first."They're coming to take me away" by napolean bonaparte. The B side was backwards...years before the advent of evangelist's so called "devil" records.

Now, back to those punk days.I'll bet there are youngin's on the board who never heard of EP's.
