View Full Version : Effing Ronnie B
I remember 2004. My dad died in January 2004 so he never saw the Sox miracle come from behind win or the title. But I do remember when the sox won picking up the phone and dialing his # then hanging up rememering "Oh yeah he's gone" ( I know thats sounds dumb but I honestly did) Ronnie is right Baseball really does coe down to fathers and sons. To be honest I almost pulled over because the car was getting dusty durning his speech
Fuck it here's to you dad

Ronnie had me crying when he said that. My dad lives far from me so don't see him often, so I was thinking of him.

my parents grew up in Ireland, so my old man didn't know too much about baseball. nevertheless, he was one of the few parents that would drive us to our little league games every week, and he took me and my brother to watch the Mets at Shea too many times to count as a kid. i think that's kinda cool, and i have great memories of those games.
fortunately, he's still alive, so we can debate his silly idea of abolishing the batting order, and letting the manager put up whoever he wants to hit at any time. i know, it makes no sense to me, either...

Back in 1996 I knew my dad was dying from cancer and I had one last chance to meet him in Florida for Red Sox spring training.
He really liked a new dh/1st baseman for the sox Reggie Jefferson.
About a month and a half later his guy had a 2 home run game, the second a monster blast.
I called him to see if he caught the game and see what Jefferson did.
My mother called about 2 hours later telling me my dad had passed.
