Right now I'm listening to Old Time Radio and they're doing the complete broadcast along with an interview between HG Wells and Orson Welles. Anyone recording this?

The audio of the original broadcast is pretty easy to find and I think it's even in the public domain, and I was able to find the audio of the HG Wells-Orson Welles interview they're playing right now. I don't think I'd ever heard that Hitler pointed to the broadcast as a sign of American weakness and decadence.

When I was a kid I used to have a book with the transcript, including all of the announcements that they had to start doing, letting people know it was just a performance.
I've heard it a number of times. It's a great broadcast in soooo many ways.
If you ever want to hear it....it's on You Tube. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wf5TPVz56A)

It's interesting how Welles was experimenting with a storytelling technique he'd use in Citizen Kane in War of the Worlds: that is, simulating news reports, in the opening "newsreel" about Kane's death.
