View Full Version : What's With All The Lady Bugs in NJ?
I've been seeing an abundance of lady bugs by my house in Middlesex County, as well as all over by my office in Newark. Anyone else noticing this? It's fucked up and I don't like it.

Lady bugs are good insects. You should welcome them.

It sounds kind of biblical, like plagues of locusts. Anti-Christ almost in office along with swarms of Lady Bugs - now I am certain we are at the End of Times.

Fuckin' A that why I don't like this one bit. I have nothing against lady bugs personally, but if it comes down to it, i'll punch 'em all into a paste.

Are you having unseasonably warm weather? Ladybugs hibernate and will come out of hibernation if the temp gets warm enough, thinking its spring already.
Stupid insects.

Not really, it's been pretty mild. And they keep landing on me and flying around me.

I grew up in Middlesex and that used to happen every once in awhile. They would get in between our screens and windows. They're one of the few bugs I don't mind.
Sorry. At least it wasn't like the cicada invasion in Ohio a few years ago!

I see just as much up here in Newark at my office. And I'm surrounded by concrete and water, no vegetation whatsoever.

I bet if you really study them they are Asian Lady Beetles. We've been plagued with them for several years in the fall of the year. Around here they feed on soybean aphids in the fields and then invade you house when the food is gone.http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef416.asp

Winna!!
Out in Indiana we have been dealing with an over abundance of them for the last 5 or 6 years it seems. Damn things come inside during the winter too - basement ends up full of them.

ladybugs go to my storage shed to die every year, last week they started heading in. I found it odd that lady bugs have to be the only bug you let fly on you and walk aroud without feeling the need to squash.
i've never even considered spraying the shed to kill them.
it'll literally be a ball of em in a corner every year.
they do have a bit of a stink to em though

Correct me if I'm wrong, but someone introduced these fuckers to control the aphid problem in soybean fields.
Now every fall when the soybeans get harvested, these pricks invade your house.

there is a car-carrier unloading in port now.
but i have the salt mounds across the street from me, so i would think that they would steer clear of them.

Last summer my dad's house in semi-upstate NY was swarmed with these fuckers. We killed them on sight.

But you are referring to the GOOD ladybugs. The ones that he speaks of stink, bite and create problems for motorcyclists.

You can kill them? You must tell me your secret. I considered burning my house down a couple years ago, but it has gotten better since.
The home defense shit just keeps them away.
