I figure everyone (myself included) has a lot of random election thoughts running through their head. So rather than filling the forums with nonsense, let's fill this thread with it.

1) I really hope the illuminati doesn't exist. Someone was on O&A (I think Marc Maron) talking about how the illuminati were letting Obama win because they knew how bad the economy was and will be, so they wanted a black democrat in power so they could blame it on him when it really takes a nose-dive in the next couple of years.

2) I think McCain purposely threw this election. He was such a good senator and made so many fans and friends, then comes and run possibly the worst election ever. He fucking picked Sarah Palin for a running mate, for fucks sake. What kind of person with a decent thought in their head thought a woman from Alaska would help them win an election? I believe McCain realizes how fucked his party is and wanted nothing to do with them being in power anymore. Luckily, he also had a great candidate running against him, so even though he was throwing the election and a bunch of rednecks would still vote for him, he would still lose.

McCain knew he was being thrown to the Wolves

no Republican could win after 8 Years of Bush and the present economy

The real election was between Clinton and Obama, they both knew the Winner would have an easy win for the Presidency

that's why the Primaries were so ugly

That was the first president-elect speech I think I've ever listened to. I have chills. I honestly cannot wait for the next 4 years.

That's very true.

I know a lot of people are thrilled about the Obama win. But with the Democrats in control of the presidency, the senate, and the house aren't people frightened about giving one party that much power?

The Democrats did not get 60 votes in the Senate, which means that they don't have a filibuster-proof majority, so the Republicans can still do quite a bit to tie up legislation.

And I don't buy that McCain "threw" this. If anything, he looked too desperate to win. He said whatever he thought would work, politically -- and, most of all, there was that gimmick of picking Sarah Palin because she might energize a base. McCain wanted to win this incredibly badly, and I think that transformed him from a "maverick" (who voted with the President 91% of the time) into a party hack, and gave no good reason to vote for him instead of Obama.

After last night, the numbers look very similar to where they were after the '92 election.

The country didn't collapse, and two years later, the Republicans took back seats in both houses.

There's been plenty of other times that we've had only one party in control, as recently as after the 2004 election with the other party, and that only lasted until the '06 mid-term elections.

Politics are cylclical.
