View Full Version : Actors that have gotten worse with age..

There are several reasons a once great actor could get 'worse' with age. Possible reasons being poor script choices, a poor director, phoning it in for the cash, becoming disheveled, or just becoming a terrible actor. I'd like to list two actors that I believe have gotten worse with age and my reason why...
Al Pacino - Righteous Kill, 88 Minutes, Ocean's 13, all terrible performances. It may be due to the scripts, but you'd think Al Pacino could make a bad script better, but not in these cases. Maybe his age has gotten the better of him.
Clint Eastwood - I really like him as a director, but as a performer, I believe his acting style is dated. I saw him in True Crime and it was dreadful. He tried using that tough guy voice the entire film and I found it unbelievable. His acting style just may not quell well with the modern films. Million Dollar Baby was a good movie but not because of his acting.

Remember he was cool on NYPD Blue? Even Mad Dog and Glory...
But he's become a laughable caricature of himself.

I don't agree with you, About Schmidt and The Departed were fantastic MOSTLY because of his performances, in my opinion.

He was TERRIBLE in the departed. Easily the worst thing about that movie, along with perhaps Marky Mark. No, wait, Nicholson was worse.

The Departed was a steaming pile of dogshit, due in no small part to Nicholson's ridiculous performance.

he has completely sold out his generation with those dumb commercials that he is in.
i feel like saying Gene Hackman, but the thing is, his last movie was Welcome to Mooseport, and hasn't done anything since. but he did, before that a few good movies....i wish he would come back.

Val Kilmer after Tombstone. Hasn't been good since.
Bruce Campbell - he's let the B-movie cult following go to his head. Loved him in the Evil Dead trilogy though. Nothing after that though.
Also, I think Sean Connery has gotten worse recently. I loved him in Red October and The Russia House but hasn't been good in anything else since 1990

you're way off on both of those. kilmer has been pretty great in those recent roles mentioned above. especially kiss kiss bang bang.
& campbell is really really good on burn notice. i am one of his biggest fans & even i was expecting him to be terrible, but he's actually really good on the show.
