Some pretty interesting changes happening tomorrow.
I'm excited about the Grateful Dead channel but I don't see Boneyard anywhere on there. I'm gonna be pissed if they axed Eddie Trunk's show.
Not so sure about Squizz being changed to Octane.
And from what I've read Deep Tracks should be staying which is my favorite.

but with my track record with shows I really like, it wouldn't surprise me at all.
to add to the confusion I came across this list (http://www.digitalradiocentral.com/siriusxm-soundwave-cafe/1063-new-lineup-channel-names-sirius-xm.html) of the new sirius/xm lineup. obviously it can't be complete since it doesn't list any of the news/talk channels

I don't think this list is complete in USA Today, and I'll tell you why:
Country stations is a major, major part of satellite radio. They only list three country channels, and there isn't a "Top 40" country station in there. It's the alt-Country, bluegrass, and "classic" country.
The reason why O&A was mentioned and not R&F goes back to the New York Times thing that drjoek mentioned... name recognition. The Virus is the station name, but O&A are the most recognizable names.
Please don't say Ron and Fez are leaving Xm when you don't have any evidence to back it up.

I caught part of Eddie Trunk's show on my way home from work last night and he was talking about this. Apparently the loss of Boneyard will only be temporary as SiriusXM reorganizes and retools the music channels. According to Eddie, the Boneyard and a few other channels will be back in mid-January (I think he said Jan. 15).
They may be on different channels though and I don't know what others will be back with Boneyard. I believe he said the new Boneyard will be XM 53 (and a Sirius channel I didn't pay attention to).
***Edited: Aaaaaaand that is listed on the linked list from Rich. :wallbash:

I'm guessing the reasons for Mid January is because they want to get the Christmas channels rolled out.

90's on 9 will still be around
Plus they are adding The Pulse which is a great channel, I've had both services and many of the music channels on Sirius are excellent. There is a deep tracks channel on Sirius also which is very good as is Octane.
Ron and Fez aren't going anywhere.

From what I understand, Ron and fez will no longer be broadcasting from the XM/Sirius satellite studio. Even though this is bad news for some, the good news is that they WILL be broadcasting the same show (with a few differences of course) over a network of Tin Cans and Strings.
The show will still be on from Noon to three, Mon-Fri. But instead of being in studio, they will be broadcasting from Tippy Toms Refrigerator Box. Another change in the line up will be athat Earl will be leaving the show and Gray Wolf will take his place as Producer.
I have attached this picture so you can bypass the purchase of a Tin Can and Strings Radio and just make your self one. Good Luck. Your Welcome.

If that were the only way to hear the Buddays, I would do it.
I've always thought that they would merge similar channels and broadcast them on both platforms. For example XM has Top Tracks and Sirius has Classic Vinyl, merge the staffs eliminate the extra djs and give it to both platforms.
Programming that is exclusive to one platform (Led Zep, Margaritaville, Grateful Dead, Elvis, Sinatra, Underground Garage, E Street Radio) can be placed on the other platform to keep the channel count up without adding cost.
Where does that leave Ron& Fez ? I can't imagine that they are going anywhere. Compared to Howard, O&A, Oprah, Martha Stewart etc, I imagine they are one of the best bargains Sirius/XM has.

I had assumed the same thing. Merging the similar music channels would also hopefully free up some additional bandwidth for the companies, which would allow them to increase the sound quality of existing channels or the addition of new or previously removed channels.

What's really f@#$ing annoying is that none of this info can be found on the XM website. They are making a major change that will affect paying subscribers and there isn't one "official" iota of information available.
This is easily something that could have been mentioned in that worthless XM Signal email.

The thing about the Verge is I think that channel was introduced when XM Canada started as part of a requirement to provide a certain amount of Canadian content. I would think that they would still be required to replace it with other Canadian content.

Damn skippy. Last time we were able to reverse their decision and get them to re-instate 202 on DirectTV. This time, I don't know if it's a DirecTV decisin or Master Mel's. I guess we can try and bombard DirecTV with calls and complaints like last time, but if it's Mel's decision, we're up Shit's creek.

I'm at least willing to give them a chance before making up my mind. chances are, I'll stick with it. even if the quality is less than it used to be, it still beats the living shit out of terrestrial radio. I know most of you probably couldn't care less, but Beyond Jazz is just flat gone and they have not changed the programming of any other station to match it.
It was the only channel in that genre that was worth listening to half the time, and the only reason (besides xm202) that I would keep a subscription.
But lucky us, we get blue collar radio.

Yeah, Eddie said on his show that there are several channels that are temporarily going away during a retooling period. I think he said that The Boneyard would be back January 15th and would be on XM channel 53 (instead of 41, which will remain Hair Nation).

I am actually pretty satisfied with the merged channels. They added the few on Sirius that I wanted. Probably don't have to say which they were. The changed over ones I don't listen that closely to except for souls streets replacement soultown is alright. As far as specific channels that are gone, for everone that misses something there is someone who is just as glad that station is gone. Like the Verge for example people have griped about it being gone I never liked it so it all evens out. All the new ones I like probably piss someone else off. I also see no need to get the best of Sirius for any reason.

Why not give us a free taste of the premium Sirius channels? Why would they expect us to run right out and pay extra for them? If we have XM we obviously like their shows and have no interest in what Sirius had to offer. If they give it to us for free then we might try it, get hooked, and pay for it down the road. Any coke dealer could have explained this to the marketing department.

Yeah, that's really my only complaint so far. I've been hearing an awful lot of commercials on the music channels, which XM never had. Also, the DJs on the new Sirius channels are really chatty. Um, wasn't one of the original selling points of satellite radio less talk more RAWK?

its a little late, i think this sums up everything...
From the Consumerist.com
This week, Sirus XM began consolidating its channels. In reality, this mostly meant jettisoning XM channels wherever there was a tenuous overlap with something Sirius already offered, which is bad news for anyone with a favorite station on XM who woke up Tuesday morning to find it missing.
http://consumerist.com/5087231/sirus-xm-merger-reveals-true-face-fewer-channels-and-sanitized-programming

that's funny, because I'd swear I heard the "real" version Ethel and the single version on Lucy.
maybe it will just be time to find what is now good.
I rarely listened to XMU, but the way IMSlacker describes it, maybe it will be good.

Sirius is run by radio guys.
Their idea was, seeing that regular FM radio is failing so bad, they would provide the EXACT same music on their channels, but make you pay for it. It makes perfect sense.
I heard "Whole Lotta Love" on Deep Tracks. Is Earl programming that channel now?

Actually a lot of the Sirius subscribers have complained about the quality since the merger too - somehow they managed to make everyone unhappy.
