Why is "It's a Wonderful Life" considered a Christmas movie except that the major climax comes during Christmas? If just being set around Christmas makes it a Christmas movie why not Die Hard or Brazil?

Ikea,
I'm starting to get tired of you constant pessismism. Maybe this movie is about simple entertainment...or maybe more!
To me , it's about being reborn into a better life. Remember when George wanted to kill himdself but was convinced about how his absence would affect others...maybe we should all learn a lesson from this. We affect all around us, people we know and those that we just pass by.
This movie might teach you that you are important to somebody in this and that you can make a difference.
Merry Christmas, Ikeaboy!

IKEABOY - It's A Wonderful Life dates back to 1946 and was a box office flop when released. It became a Christmas classic in the 1960's thanks to repeated television showings at Christmas-time.
The movie was based on "The Greatest Gift," an original short story written on a Christmas card!
The story itself is about a guy who plans on committing suicide on Christmas but is saved by an angel "trainee," who shows him how terrible his town would have been without him in it. This gives him new faith and the realization that life really is wonderful.
For all you Paulo fans out there, the movie did NOT win any Oscars. GGG.
The movie opens on Christmas Eve and the scenes shown the hero by the angel occur at Christmas time.

I think that there is a pretty good reason for it to be set around Christmas. During the holidays is when a lot of people to some evaluating and re-evaluating of the things they have and don't have in their life, and it's a time when a lot of people do feel sad and desperate. And because the new year is sort of like a rebirth, it's a perfect setting for George Bailey's rebirth into believing that he does have a worthwhile life. Yes everything happens on Christmas Eve with the flashbacks and all, but still, ya know what i'm saying?

A good Christmas movie is the musical version of Scooge with Albert Finney. It is the best version of a Christmas Carol
