If this guy is really testing negative after a marrow transplant, and it is just a "fluke" as the report says, I couldn't imagine what an AIDS infected person would be thinking about-probably gone nuts.

It's a matter of evolution for all of those. There's no need for the immune system to build any sort of tolerance against herpes because it doesn't kill. Same for the common cold. Baldness is an evolutionary fluke that never needed to be corrected in the wild because humans never lived that long.

HIV kills, the immune system will evolve to fight and stop it.
