Fantastic show - great chemistry, lots of energy. There was never a point where it lagged, even when they talked about what should have been tired old subjects (Star Wars, etc.)

It was good, but yeah it definitely needs to be live with callers and/or guests. The spastic retard and sarcastic ass work well together... but current topics and other points of view could perhaps turn it into a real show. This one was a bit manic and self-contained.

What ever happens on the sam and dave show stays on the sam and dave show. And now that thats been said. I can't really say i liked it.... I loved it....I am a little disapointed that our coprophiliac didn't run around the studio doing shit ninja pranks but i guess that does prove he's not a one trick poney. I enjoyed the show will give it another listen when i can and hope that something comes of it. With the recent layoffs going on around the studios i hope that this keeps em around a lil longer

Good first show needs to be live with callers and current topics.
East side needs to stop yelling into the mike and Sam is always in control other then telling Dave to stop screaming.
I'm on board with anything but replay after replay of the o&a show.

Well, I stayed home to listen to the show last night and this morning I wake up with a sore throat and a low grade fever. Coincidence?
Yeah, I guess it probably is.
Like some others here have said, I thought the chemistry and energy were great but I hope they come up with some better topics to talk about (and listen to) than meeting the guy from CHIPS and Star Wars.

I listened to the rest this morning. I checked out last night to not be a trouble maker. This is a poll and I feel entitled to express an opinion. If ronfez.net is just a fanboy site where we are only allowed to post positive nurturing posts someone needs to update the faqs. It is possible that not everyone loved the show you know
Its a poll that asked for an opinion I gave mine nothing more. My opinion is obviously the minority. When Dave is successful in a big way and note I said when not if he will have fans and those that don't enjoy his work.

Once they got going, I liked it. As others have said, a live show with callers and fresh topics (no Star Wars, NO WRESTLING) would be great. Less screaming from Dave would be better too.
Oh yeah and more dyking out from the girlfriend/wife would definitely help.

if it is then i'm guilty myself
I should say, I am a fan of both Sam and Dave, but for the show I tried to not use that in my evaluation of them as a tandem.
Sam is a much better straight man now than he was with Than, a huge part of that is the personality difference in Dave and Than, leading to a more energetic combination, and also obviously Sam maturing a little behind the mic with time. He showed some potential I did not even know he had, with the range of running everything he was able to display. Dare I say a mini Opie? His sarcasm is well known, but when he uses it less, it's even more biting, when he shows he can be straight as well, and then launches one of his one liners, it's gold.
Dave is nuts, we all know it, but I hope he realizes that less is more with everything. He is smarter than I think even he knows, and so I think he does some of the crazy stuff when things slow down at all. Just be yourself Dave, but remember you're a naturally funny person, sometimes you don't need to yell, to get the funnies.
Together for a first show, more of a first experiment since there was no interaction with the audience and it was chopped into blocks, I don't think they could have done much better than they did. There were slow parts, but if anyone listened to the entire thing, and did not come away thinking this had quite the potential down the road of a very good show, then you and I disagree on what good radio can and should be.
I hope whoever is running the channel realizes the potential, and gives the show the airtime, every weekend if possible, there is no reason why 202 could not have more stuff on air, than they do now. So good luck to Sam and Dave, I will be listening whenever they get the chance to be on the air.

I got to listen to about two hours worth. I really liked what I heard and I really hope we get to hear the show on a somewhat permanent basis. Sam and Dave are my two favorite non-host personalities on the channel. This could really develop into something good if it gets a chance.
The one thing I found myself hoping will change is Dave's trying to act dumb bit ("this is blowing my mind", "I don't understand what you're saying", etc.). I've always liked Dave when he just acts like himself. He may say some odd things and act wacky at times, but I really think he's a pretty smart guy. I'd love to hear more of him just being a normal guy.
Good luck fellas. I'll be rooting for you.

I enjoyed it. It was better than I expected out of a first show. I agree with the previous poster who doesn't like when Dave tries to play a little too dumb. The lessons argument was a little irritating.
Sam needs to reign Dave in a little more when it comes to the yelling. No need to scream into the mic out of fake frustration. The John Travolta yelling was particularly annoying.
Sam was very good keeping the show on track. I enjoyed that. He probably could talk about himself a little more rather than just interviewing Dave, but it seems like the Ron and Fez relationship where Ron just questions Fez.
However the majority of the time I was pretty impressed and I did laugh quite a bit. I would definitely listen again.

I thought it was a great first show. Sam surpised me a little with what seemed to be a very polished, relaxed steering of the show and I thought Dave did a great job as a co-host rather than his usual third mic role. More shows, more practice will equal more gooder shows...

I hope it become a permanent replacement from Than & Sam. I always loved the Than & Sam show, but those two have too similar a sense of humor to have an interesting show. They rely on people like Tony and Hip Hop Ron to play the fool, when no one plays to fool as well as East Side Dave. I'm really looking forward to the next show.

nicely put...I agree
It was ok but kind of like sitting across from the freshman/geek table in a hs cafeteria....the possible motivations of Yoda and wrestling talk? and Dave - stop YELLING into the mic! and maybe try reading a book so you can talk about deeper subjects...you CAN be better than New Lilly! Just try...

Sam is smart and halarious with great sarcasm and can keep a show moving and Dave has the energy that the "Than and Sam Show" lacked to be a complete show that has the potential for regular 202/197 airtime. Like someone else said, it will be better with production and forethought but for talking for 2.5 hours it was halarious and better than any other SAT. Night Virus Show out there now. Overall I give the show a 100 out of 107 so there is room to improve. GREAT SHOW and im glad they didnt advocate drunken driving.
I hope Struff and Tony arent going to appear on this show because they werent that funny in my opinion.

Me and my chick listened to it and laughed our asses off. Sure there were slow parts, but let's be honest, this was a podcast and a 2-person show is gonna drag on if it's those two with no callers and no friends popping into the studio. I agree with whoever said Sam and Than was 2 similar personalities and that held them back. Dave has a very blunt sense of humor and Sam is a diehard smartass and they couldn't have meshed any better than they did. I realize it's only been one show, but out of all the SNV shows made by producers from the Virus, this has been the best, IMO.

I listened to three hours of "the lost tapes" and I love it.
Dave and Sam are contrasting personalities and they have their own voice. When a member of Special Delivery is talking, you know who it is. It seems like a trivial point, but there are a few programs out there where this attribute is notably absent.
We're only able to judge this show by three individual test hours that were pretaped, but you wouldn't know that from hearing it. The flow was there and while enjoying the show I lost sight of the fact that this wasn't one fluid episode of an established radio program. I think it speaks volumes for their chemistry that their first time out they made it seem as though they've been working together for years.
I look forward to more from these guys and I hope they secure a regular timeslot.
Great job!

I gotta be honest...it was pretty bad. Very few laughs.
It all seemed pretty forced, especially from Dave's end. It could do better as a live show, with callers, and Dave not trying to hard.
Dave is hilarious on Ron & Fez where he doesn't have to carry anything and can just react to what Ron is saying.
Keep working on it, boys.

Dave was the weaker element due to trying so hard, but I think it will be more natural over time. They need more people to bounce off of. Still I think it showed great potential after only one show.

I know I'm late but I just listened to this at work today. There were laughs and the show has potential so it was a success. I just hate when Dave played dumb as opposed to the naturally stupid things he says. If he keeps that up we're just going to have 3 hours of callers starting by saying "Dave, you're a fucking idiot!"
