Coolest LotR character

Due to a recent conversation elsewhere, I have to ask here, who is the coolest Lord of the Rings character? Feel free to base your opinion on the movies, books, cartoons, etc.

I say it's all about Strider, aka Aragorn, son of Arathorn.

JON - Aragorn is cool for sure, but he's so...human. In high fantasy stories, humans are overshadowed by the fantastical races.

Orcs, elves, goblins, balrogs, dwarves, dragons and the like are so cliched.

That's why my favorite characters are the Ents. Intelligent, noble strong, dedicated, alien and able to utter the line "fire - bad" and really mean it, they kick ass!

I love the villains, so my first impulse is to say Sauron.

But I really would have to pick Sam. Throughout the books, he's the one who holds Frodo together, and the destruction of the Ring would not have been accomplished without him. I love the character.

How about most tragic character? I'd vote for Gollum.
