View Full Version : A Colbert Christmas
Did no one watch this?
I imagine Comedy Central will replay it 800 times between now and Christmas, so there wasn't exactly a sense of urgency, but I thought it was brilliant.
How brilliant? It made me like Toby Keith...that's how much...

We watched it last night. I enjoyed it immensely. Willie Nelson AND Elvis Costello? Holy crap I was a happy camper. The Willie segment was hilarious. And Toby Keith was pretty funny.

There was so much great stuff.
But the three things that probably made me laugh the most were:
1) The "oreo with an oreo in the middle" wish (followed by 'man, I could really go for an oreo').
2) The 'Peace, Love, and Understanding' duet, turned ensemble, with the bear.
3) Feist using the 'they're godless, killing machines' line.
Stephen absolutely nailed all the mannerisms and subtleties of those awful Christmas Specials from the 70s and 80s.
I was reading some of the reviews for it, and it surprised me how many people didn't get it at all and gave it a bad review.
You could tell which critics watch the Colbert Report, and got it, and which didn't and were just confused.

Those reviewers must have been living under a rock during the Perry Cuomo specials, Kenny Rogers, The Mandrel Sisters, etc. Wow, I feel old now.

I'm going to buy the DVD tomorrow.
I was told to not even wait for it to replay, and go buy it ASAP.
My friend called while it was on GUSHING about it.
