I'm going to guess that most of you don't know that the city charges you for taking an ambulance, Bloomie is going to close budget gaps on the back of the sick and injured. What a guy! Ever wonder where your tax money really goes?

The city is raising the cost of an ambulance ride - with transports for the most critical patients going up to $850 per ride - as part of Mayor Bloomberg's orders to slash costs to raise revenue and plug future budget holes.

From what I hear from someone who works for an NJ ambulance service, most of the calls go to people who would be fine riding in a car to the hospital/not needing to go to the hospital at all.

the trick with the ambulance is that if you show up at the hospital in the ambulance, you are admitted in right away. those that show up at the ER on their own get to wait on line.

no theres a loop hole
if you pull up in the emergency parking and have the nurses or whatever come out to get the person then they go right into the er

you just walk up to the window and say
ey theres someone in my car and i cant carry them
then they come right away.

i wouldnt pay that much for an ambulance (buy a piece of crap car for that price call it the ICE car) ....but i would pay that plus more for a good rape kit...the one i have was a generic one...im looking to really upgrade to an expert plus type rape kit

Well I guess the difference is, with a rape kit, the victim might deny treatment if they thought they had to pay for it. If you're arm is chopped off what's $800? A small price to have all four limbs.

I am not saying it is necessarily right, but I have a feeling most people aren't worrying about the cost of an ambulance ride when there's a medical emergency. People aren't going to avoid it just because they have to pay if it means there life.
