I guess everyone is glued to the news as I was?
Seems like mayhem and confusion is still overbearing. Some hostages freed, some still in hotels. Terrorists have a police car and open fired on bystanders. Lobbing grenades off hotel roofs. Fires.
A very well coordinated attack. Possibly Islamic terrorist group linked to Kashmir separatist group. Attacks in previous years involved multiple bombings, whereas this one was multiple groups of terrorists invading hotels and train station.
78 known dead. Numbers will increase.

Hopefully the number of dead won't rise any higher than that even though you know it likely will. Mumbai (or Bombay, depending on the Indian you're asking) had a pretty nasty attack on their trains a few years back... I don't remember the exact numbers but I think it was over 500 dead.

ABC in NYC said that they called the state department asking about the terrorist group and they said they knew nothing and never heard of them. the reporter went on to say that all he did to for researching the group was to type their name into google. I feel so much safer.

Witness describes how he watched a man shot in hotel lobby (http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/11/26/mumbai.witness/index.html)
Dripping with another man's blood and seized by terror, British businessman Alan Jones says he was just seconds away from possible death as gunmen responsible for a wave of carnage in Mumbai stormed towards him.
"It was absolutely terrifying," Jones told CNN, describing the moment when the doors of the elevator he was riding down to the lobby of the Trident-Oberoi, one of several luxury hotels targeted in the attacks, opened to deadly scenes of chaos.
"When the doors opened, two Japanese men riding with us got out, but immediately signaled for us to go back in the lift," he said, speaking by telephone as the violence that left at least 78 people dead continued to rage.
"As they got back in, a bullet hit one of the Japanese men in the back of the leg. Flesh and blood splattered everywhere.
"I looked up to see one of the gunmen was approaching. I tried to close the door, but the injured guy's leg was preventing it from closing."
Jones said he dropped to his knees and frantically pulled the Japanese man's leg back into the elevator, watching the doors close even as the gunman was bearing down on them. iReport.com: Are you there?
"I only just kept it together enough to get the door shut," he said.

I wish that people would get sick of these fucking terrorists and if they see a group of guys getting together to train for this shit that they can send an alert that triggers a massive fast response to capture the group. I know people are scared of these guys, like anyone would be scared of the Mafia in a neighborhood, but why the hell cant there be in this day an age something that ca enable the alerting of this activity where it cant be traced back to the reporter of the suspicious gathering/training? These guy have to prepare before attempting something of this scale. I find it hard to believe that this goes unnoticed by anyone.

it is hard in India to keep tabs on stuff like this
US thanks to Bush has much better handle on potential attacks
we'll see if same is true under obama
hopefully he is not one of them

I see that they are saying that these attacks are related to the issues between India and Pakistan now. Both of these counties have a nuclear arsenal. Do you think someday they will start nuking each other?

Mumbai, India (CNN) -- At least 13 people were killed and 81 others injured Wednesday in explosions that rocked congested areas of India's financial capital, Mumbai, according to Prithviraj Chavan, the chief minister of the state of Maharashtra.
Police said the explosions occurred within minutes of one another in the Dadar, Opera House and Zaveri Bazaar areas, all busy commercial areas that were certainly teeming with people in the evening rush hour.
Story developing...
