So do the remaining 33 have to pick up the slack left behind by the people that were let go? That's where I'm at right now, I am doing about 2.5 people's work and charging a lot of overtime for it. I'm not quite sure how it is any cheaper for the company. Oh well, the pay cheque is nice.

You are right the first 5 or so were no brainers, dead wood that we were happy to be rid of. After that though it becomes tougher. We're letting some guy go who sends money back to his family in the Congo (they are having civil war). He shows up every day and does a good job. If he worked in a different dept we might be able to keep him.

We are cutting production by 40%. Hopefully the slowdown will only be for a couple of months.

Better stay doing an indoors job and not get sick. Job hopping is good at yur age. More things wear on yur body and patience when you get say 50. Personally I hate long commutes,so I'd look for something close,like right around the corner for some quick cash. Then later I'd worry more about real solid opportunities. Career moves are everywhere in yur area fortunately because of high turnover. Help wanted ads are not the best way to go because of the numbers game.Word of mouth is way better.For me,service jobs are the best.I used to do deliveries a lot but that's more dead end in my opinion.
