OK... so it's a terribly cliche, sappy, and contrived reality show... and I really am a bit ashamed to admit that I set my DVR for the premier...
but i have to admit I am kind of enjoying this.
Maybe it's the holiday season... or the fact that at one point this year I had NOTHING... not a penny to even pay my rent. And that now I am back on my feet, thanks to a bit of good financial timing, a great resume, and some help from a friend or two...
Seeing people who are WAY worse off is always a good way to appreciate what you have in this world. And seeing them get a bit of good charity is... well... it's just so damn heart warmin'!!

This is the type of reality television that I truly despise: the kind that attempts to tug at the heart strings. Give me VH1's Charm School any day over this garbage. At least that won't make me try to feel sorry for anyone.

It still is better than the worst of this shitty genre, Extreme Homemaker: Home Edition. They don't go back and show you the trouble these people now have affording the homes they got.
I mean, yeah, it was nice of them to build your kid a wheelchair ramp. But did you really need the 70 inch LCD TV too?

Ah shit I happened upon this and got choked up a bit when they were handing out the cash. I remember a scene where the rich kid is telling his dad that poor people were "not dumber and lazier than we are." We're taught that money is closely tied to personal value and it's just stupid. If nothing else, I'm hoping people watch the show and want to destroy capitalism. Competition is fun and everything, but lets feed and clothe everyone first. Then we can all play poker and basketball and shit to deal with our competitive urges.
