Me and the old lady want to put together a movie watching list for this break that take place during Christmas but aren't about Christmas. Every year we watch the usual stuff plus The Ref and Scrooged, but this year we're going to try something different.
So far, I've come up with Die Hard, Gremlins, and, shit, that's about it. I know I've seen quite a few great movies with the Christmas season as a backdrop, but damned if I can remember them.

There are a few movies that have a Christmas scene but doesn't revolve around Christmas. American Psycho, Goodfellas, Annie Hall has a great scene with Christmas music playing while showing shots of sunny Los Angeles.

Goodfellas, of course! Does the Godfather have any scenes during Christmas? I keep thinking it does somewhere in there, but I can't think of it.

Sure, Michael and Kay are Christmas shopping when Michael finds out the Don was shot.

That is one of the few movies I cannot fucking form an opinion about. I've seen it three times now and I can't decide if it's a piece of shit or brilliant.

The ending kind of sucks but I think the rest of the movie is pretty good. The kid's name turned out to be Thurman Merman; that was pretty funny.

Silent Night Deadly Night. (ok, its ABOUT christmas, but it's a serial killer!!!)
Thats a holiday tradition for me from way back.
The Bishop's Wife. They made an awful remake a few years back, but this is the original, with Carey Grant and David Niven. (One of those movies where they were originally supposed to play eachother's parts, but the director switched em.)
I'm watching the Bishop's wife right now. TCM is running romantic Christmas movies this year.
10th Avenue Angel was just on-last part takes place at Christmas
Penny Serenade is a favorite-Cary Grant and Irene Dunne
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn-It's over a year but there is a great Chrismas moment
(Actually all of these are sad movies about children.
The Apartment, Period of Adjustment, Remember the Night and the first The Thin Man film take place between Christmas and New Years
Sleepless in Seattle and While You Were Sleeping start and Christmas and go until Valentine's Day
Diner has a good drunk scene from Kevin Bacon at Christmas.
Brazil is a good one
The Man Who came to Dinner
and Desk Set-End with a drunken office Christmas Party
Lady and the Tramp starts and ends at Christmas-That is my present wrapping movie (I'll be watching it tonight)
