Allright, so...Whoever the fuck is responsible for Ron and Fez being taken off DirecTV - You've got some crosshairs on you, my friend. Way to suck.

I'm looking into getting Sirius, but I've never had satellite radio. A lot of these questions are from someone who's never had/dealt with satellite radio - Please be kind, hahah. Figure this would be the place to ask, so:

1. I'm going to want a portable radio, probably - Any recommendations? Any I should avoid? I'm cheap, so...Keep that in mind, hah.

2. Does Sirius still carry Ron Bennington's Interviews and Unmasked?

3. The sport's talk radio - Worth it? Christopher Russo's show any good?

4. Any feedback/shit I should watch out for would be helpful, cheers!

I know nothing about much at all about Sirius, but they still advertise that Unmasked is on a Sirius channel.

Get an Inno there. They have refurbished radios for less $$$

1. I had an old ass roady2 car kit forever that I got for $20 and it worked as well as my inno that I have now. No problems with either one. If you're going to get an inno or some other walkman-type player, you'll need to live in a decently urban area. In Austin, Texas there are XM repeaters at ground level so the signal comes into my inno just about anywhere. Once I get about 30 miles out of town, the inno has to be connected to my car kit to get reception pretty much.

Keep in mind that you can stream XM/Sirius over the internet in a bunch of different ways, so once you're a member, you can always just do that. You can stream through the sirius xm website but I use a program called foo_xm made for the foobar2000 player. It loads the streams and I don't have to login or relogin to listen for hours and hours. Either way works fine.

2. Unmasked is played on a former Sirius comedy channel. RBI comes on every Sunday night on XM 202/ Sirius 197. The weekend programming keeps getting better and better with 50 states of confusion with Ron, Fez, Sam and Dave and a really high calibur rotation on Saturday Night Virus now.

3. I don't know. I heard Russo on O&A once and he was funny enough. I don't listen to sports radio because my own opinions on sports are retarded enough without listening to what other people have to say.

4. I haven't had any issues with XM as a company in the three years I've been listening. I figure your mileage may vary. The only thing I can think of is that the customer service people push longer subscriptions, but just go with what you're comfortable with. That's about it.

yes! this is where I got mine. Saved a ton and it's worked great for six months so far, no problems at all.

Don't know if it works for Sirius. Sirius told congress that the merger wouldn't cost customers money so I'm not paying for the premium package.

Thanks, everyone.

I looked into what XM was offering, and it seems like they've got a deal on "News, Sports, + Talk" - But they don't have The Virus listed under that plan: anyone know what's up with that?

I was hoping to get THAT subscription ($9.99 a month), but it's hardly worth it if Ron and Fez aren't included.

Now that they are merged hopefully they will come out with the hybrid or whatever you want to call it unit where you get full programming on both but for now you can get a cheap inno refurbished or a samsung nexus and it will even allow hours of recording if you cant listen to the whole show live. Sports is great so is Rons interviews but some people doubt the longevity of satellite radio. 15 cents a share is what someone said but im too lazy to look it up so i dont know if there is a future in this medium. Overall for O&A and R&F/Dave I would pay for it.

Sirius still sucks and much of their programming does as well. I have left XM once during an O&A thing but my return was not hard. This new fangled programing shit has me confused.

PalTalk and Audible are my current friends for listening to both.

if you're cheap go to ebay and pick up a myfi or tao that someone just had for the 3 month intro period. i got a full replacement radio with accessories for $30 when my 3 year old tao died. they pick up live signal and can go to a home unit and car unit (it just plugs into the base).
