Love is a stream that will find its own course.
I would assume waves and ocean apply also.

WTF??? She's from the islands and can't swim???? Sounds fishy. There has to be more to this story like maybe when he tried to propose, she told him she wanted to be friends.........or for a greencard.

no, I know many Philipinos that can't swim.
If they live in Manila they may have never seen the beach... and there are mountain regions, no beach...
nothing fishy about that... she was also swept by a muddy wave... aside from the force of the water she had no chance.

Maybe if she had bigger buoys she could have floated.:nono:

Did he say what site he meet her at.

Is the place where they went publicly accessible?? Seems like a very desolate place to be proposing.

I wonder if while she was floating away he was asking her if she changed her mind about marrying him.

Did he even make an attempt.

It'll get there in a couple of weeks, depending on the tides and hopefully, no sharks along the way.

Here's what I'm thinking...

Have they met before face to face or was this her first visit in person?

If it was her first visit and he was planning to propose, I could see a lot of issues cropping up. But if she's visited before, it's a little more normal.

unless he visited her there, there is no way she just got a visa to travel. They are hard to come by and the family in the pictures did not look like a diplomat family

How long does it take a sweet foreign lady to become Americanized?

not gonna say I am 100% sure but I remember my ex's family having siblings that were not able to just visit. They never came here until they had a real visa which was years for them to apply and get through.

My wife, her sisters and my mother-in-law took 5 years to get here in the 70s, even though my mother-in-law was married to my father-in-law. He met her while on R & R from Vietnam.

I had a squad leader named Romeo Montehermoso who got his citizenship because he served time in the US Army. Other then those two scenarios and the "mail order bride" situation this seems to be, I don't know of any way phillipinos get here on their own.

Considering how tourism-based the United States is, I find it weird that someone from the Phillipines just can't visit here for a week or two. There is a tourist visa that you can get for 21 days.

I need more information on this story.

OK... I got some more information

He HAD visited her in the Phillipines, but she had never been here.

So yes, the Mail Order Bride story has a little more credibility, but it could just be an internet romance. Stranger things have happened.

I mean, someone meeting someone on a website from another country, and traveling to his/her home country because she/he couldn't come here? And then getting engaged and married?

IT'S FUCKING MADNESS! THAT SHIT NEVER HAPPENS LEGITIMATELY. (http://www.ronfez.net/forums/showthread.php?t=74889)

Maybe you are not familiar with mail order brides now adays? I briefly was a contract programmer for a mail order bride site. It is predominantly Phillipino. I swear the site was like 90% Phillipino 10% chinese/korean/etc (and 100% 25-50yr old white men). There must be something about those islands....... I doubt they were matched on match.com

No, I understand how Mail Order Brides work. What I'm saying is, the thought of the guy spending all that money just to kill her doesn't make any sense.

Besides, isn't the Mail Order Bride process a lot faster than 2 years?

What i'm saying is this:

If they met through conventional internet means, like a messageboard, than the idea of her being murdered has more credence.

If she was a mail order bride, then murder is less likely.

Speaking as someone who's done some PR work, I just can't fathom it EVER being a good idea for someone to talk to the press THREE DAYS after something happens. I'd be mourning for a damn long time, and event then, I wouldn't talk to the press.

their visa often get denied due to extreme requirements and the fees are high... consider yourself lucky to be US citizen who can just go to an embassy to apply for a visa to any country in this world and not worry about more than the fee.

No shit. When I was in Desert Shield/Storm the Saudis had a shitload of Phillipino men doing their construction work for 100 dollars a month on a 2 year contract.

I asked one of the guys (they were selling roasted chickens to us for extra cash-yummy yummy yummy!) how he could live on 100 bucks a month.

He said he was saving it all in the bank back home in the Phillipines and when he got home it would be enough money for him to buy a farm, and he would be rich.

I meet people like that everytime I deploy to the Gulf. This place would fall apart without them because the locals are too rich, lazy and arrogant to do the grunt work.

Sound familiar?

I dunno, A.J., 'cause I can't really figure out what that has to do with Greenwich housewives and crews of illegal Mexicans.
