I'm watching The Net and the outdatedness of the computer stuff is so bad its makes the movie unwatchable. What movie has new technology ruined for you?

i try not to get bothered by "outdated" stuff, appreciate things for the time...but re-watching "demolition man" recently was pretty tough

I'm pretty sure The Net was outdated as soon as it was released.

Tron is still as timeless and as innovative as the day it was released.

Sometimes I get bothered by the outdatedness of some of the CGI stuff in some 90's movies.

there are 3 that i watched even a while ago and it was cringe worthy for how bad the technology is
jonny pheumonic(embarassing when it was new, so bad now that it has gone past camp, maybe it will be so bad in a few years that it comes all the way around and into silly comedy)
the one with denxel and russel crow where crow floats through wires; awful
And there is one with jolie and the guy from "Can't Hardly Wait" about a group of "hackers", i'd look up the name but i would be embarrased to know it.
How bout war games? Soviets, super computers with pentium 2s processors, and they thought the bees were going to inherit the earth?

I won't watch War Games any more for this reason, I enjoyed it when it came out and I know watching it again will ruin the movie for me.
Plus Ally Sheedy was really cute back then, and thinking about how she must look now just depresses me.

weird science is terribly out of date technology-wise, but i can still watch it whenever it's on tv. i think the comedy & the story helps it stay acceptable.
hackers is very laughable now (like it wasn't back then), but i'll still watch it whenever. i'm sure it doesn't help that i have an angelina jolie obsession or that an ex boyfriend is in the scene on the roof of stuyvesant high school.

As much as I still love Terminator 2 I still laugh that the apocalypse is supposed to happen in 1997.

I know this isn't a movie, but there are a ton of episodes of Seinfeld where the central plot complication wouldn't happen if they had cell phones. George wouldn't need that dude at the Chinese restaurant to call him for his call, for example.

I could never understand why no one ever had caller ID on Seinfeld. It was already pretty standard by then.

The opening scene in Blade Runner, where the detective guy is interviewing Leon the replicant, he's smoking a cigarette the whole time, kind of takes me right out of the movie, even though it's still a great movie.

When AIDS first came into national consciousness, it scared people to death, and when Magic became HIV positive, people thought it was tantamount to a death sentence, and guys wouldn't even go NEAR him on the court because they thought AIDS was contagious...we've learned a lot since then

Once the first act is over it's fine, but the early parts of the first Terminator are kind of laughable. Sarah Connor's answering machine is the size of an Xbox and the bouncer had a Spinal Tap-esque ribcage t-shirt.
Die Hard 2 can be funny too. Bruce Willis smokes inside the airport and an old lady brings a stun gun on to the plane with no issue.

The Forbidden Planet, with Leslie Neilsen in a serious role, has some definite outdated futuristic ideas. The robot for one. And the notion that Neilsen and his crew were maybe disturbing this one guy's utopia that had been built by aliens millions of yeas ago.

The die hard movies have tranformed into pop art period films.
Those crazy late 80s and 90s! Remember those days?
