Favorite scene in this movie - but the first full 15 minutes of Henry's childhood is my favorite begining of any movie ever... reading the book this movie is based on made this scene even better because I found out WHY he goes nuts... not just because he is a psycho. The fight scene from OldBoy. It is all one shot, and it took 17 takes to finally get the shot. It was totally worth it, because it's an amazing scene.

that's a great scene, in a great movie indeed, I hope they don't really do a remake of that one.

This is so well done.
It's a scene from CLOSE ENCOUNTERS.

Without the use of any special effects, props, or spaceships, Spielberg sucks ya right into SciFi geekdom. I've watched this scene at least a hundred times in my life.

I can't access Youtube at work, but one of my favorite scenes of all time is in Casablanca. Maybe someone else can find it. The scene(s) is the night when Rick starts to be the hero.

You have the woman asking Rick whether she can trust Renault to get her and her husband out of France if she sleeps with Renault, you have Carl talking to the German couple just learning English, then in the casino, Rick lets the husband win so that they have the money to pay Renault to get out of Casablanca (and now his wife won't have to sleep with Renault), then Lazlo speaks to Rick for awhile, they come down and see the German soliders singing Wacht Am Rein; Lazlo tells the band to play Marseillasse, Rick takes a side and nods to the band to do so, the band and the customers drown out the Germans; the germans tell Renault to close the place down, and then you have the following classic exchange between Rick and Renault.

Rick: How can you close me up? On what grounds?
Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.
Captain Renault: [sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much.

Captain Renault: Everybody out at once!

That scene captures Casablanca and virtually all of the characters in the movie perfectly for me.

I always loved the scene in the BBQ joint, where Russell tells Dick to get rid of Penny. Dick's a little rough with her, and both Russell and William stand up, look at each other, and Russell sits down and William runs after Penny with "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" playing in the background.

fargo - i don't really know what it is about this scene, but i just love it. the dialogue and the accents are fantastic. the second scene in the clip is pretty great too with jerry lundegard fleeing the interview.
