Like the song says, this is suppose to be the most wonderful time of the year.
To me this season is a financial disaster every year. I hate it because it is like buying birthday presents for everyone you know at once. The anxiety of it kills me. I hate the packed malls and the aggressive people in the lots and the cold and darkness. The idea that soon it will be fucking cold as hell and difficult commutes lies ahead. At work, all the senior people take off during this time and I am left holding the bag. Anyone else feel this way?
Humbug I say!!

Just a big anti-christian conspiracy......mask the holiday with stress and anxiety.
Even Walmart's tag line this year is "Makin Christmas Affordable" or some shit like that.
keep your gifts. its not the point.

The middle of the summer is a lovely time to be in upstate NY.
And nothing beats a baseball game on a warm summer night. Period.

I am the exact opposite. I am stressing this year financially for various reasons but overall I love this time of year. I love the holiday spirit and thinking of things to get people. I think it's the creative side of myself where with loved ones and friends I want to show them how much I care about them and think of them that it's a way for me to express it. It may be something I give them that I remembered hearing them talk about 10 months ago or even years back, or just the week before but I get a weird joy out of seeing their expression when they see what I got them and they make the connection that I was listening to them that day. In many ways I don't even care if I get the same kind of thing back, it's nice when I do but it's not necessary. It's just my own weird way of letting them know how I feel.
That being said, I COMPLETELY understand why some people hate this time of year, as SR said his reasons are legitimate and then others who have lost loved ones that make this time of year especially hurtful and emotional...those types of things I am completely compassionate about because it's so real. To each their own.

I can't be sad around this time of year. Its an awesome time. Something about X-Mas just makes me feel good. I love being at the malls shopping, looking for the right things to get people. Its like an adventure. Plus, my friends are home from school. No longer am I stuck in the house.

I prefer waterboarding to the non-original ron and fez xmas music. If I want over the top holidays give me the Fourth of July.
