With the popularity of UFC and mixed martial arts I think Fight Club would have been even bigger if it came out this year rather than 1999. It made 11 million the opening weekend and 100 million worldwide over its run. Whats a movie that people would like now more than they did in the past if it were to open this year?

I disagree with Fight Club; that was a very gen x movie and those people are all older now. It was gritty and antimaterialism and I think the aesthetic now is much more about polish and consumption is way up.

With as big as Apatow and co have gotten I think Clerks would've done well if released now. And with some advertising behind it I think Idiocracy would do well.

I disagree with Fight Club

For different reasons I agree. I think if the hype was with the MMA it would have come out more like that (I assume) shit pile "never back down" and just be a waste.
