I just checked out this great Rock-umentary and I cannot believe I've been missing out on this band all these years, especially since they are Canadians.
Thank you Ron Bennington, again.

Nothing beats Van's performance of "Caravan" during that show...especially with the Elaine Benes esque little kicks as he's heading off the stage

I don't care if his outfit makes him look like a giant Irish turd...that's a DAMN great performance

The CD or DVD would make a nice Christmas gift for someone special. Fez's turkey trotting friend for example

My favorite part is the Dylan performance of "Forever Young". At the end you can read Dylan's lips "its a seventh cord",as he corrected Robbie's playing. Then Robbie looking at Bob as a student looks at a respected professor as he anticipated the next song. Brilliant. The whole film is brilliant.

marty should make more movies
it seems like his forgotten movies are by far better then the ones everyone credits him with

Imagine how much better it would be it Marty didn't have a man-crush on his then roommate Robbie.
It's still a good movie with good music, in my opinion.

To me, Muddy waters was the highlight of the movie. Dr. John was fantastic too. Shit, I can't pick a favorite guest. It's an amazing film from open to close.

I agree on the Muddy Waters; he is absolutely regal. And you can't overlook Paul Butterfield doing Mystery Train, sharing vocals with Levon. He's a powerhouse--also backing up Muddy.

I think every kid in America should be forced to watch this film in junior high and high school.

This country would be a much better place for it.

First Niel Young and now the Band. I cant take this sort of disappointment.

but if Marty didn't have a man crush on RR, Rob Reiner's Marti DiBergi wouldn't have been so great. As Ron said yesterday, many good things can come from vile, evil human behavior and there is nothing worse than one man being sexually attracted to another.

I'm not even a big Joni Mitchell fan, but I can't get enough of "Coyote."

The Band is awesome. Regular part of my rotation especially when I'm getting ready to go out for a night on the town.

I would have enjoyed the movie more if it were more accurate. And if more camera angles were used besides 'close up on Robbie'.

I downloaded The Last Waltz CD's 1 and 2 as per this thread, and listened to it on my way into the city this morning. Fucking totally amazing. I'm already a fan but I forgot how off the hook this was.

"Helpless" best track so far, but I'm a huge Neil fan.

"Helpless" is definitely a highlight. Van Morrison's "Caravan" and "Forever Young" are also way up there. I always thought Dr. John was just OK but he has grown on me and that tune has become one of my favorites.

Either rent, buy, or download the DVD. There are some great extras. Scorsese and Robertson talking about the concert and the making of the movie is excellent.

Question to the board.

Levon Helm is playing in New Jersey in February and tickets go on sale this Saturday. Anyone have info on what his shows are like? Tickets are too expensive but they aren't cheap either. I'd like to see him but not if its a crappy show or plays stuff I don't know. Thanks.
