I just came into possession of a 1957 One Dollar Silver Certificate.

S/N is 13197976 C

Series 1957 D

Signed by Ivy Baker Priest, Treasurer of the United States, on the left.

Signed by Robert B Anderson, Secretary of the Treasury, on the right.

Pretty decent shape.

Anyone know if this has any value to it? Or know of a link where I can research this?

Here you go (http://currency.ha.com/guide.php), although the data is a little general. I am not sure where to look for super detailed info.

Thank You Both!

It sounds like I can buy a Coke at WaWa, because this bill seems to be worth at best (since it is a circulated certificate) about $1.50

It is real neat though....I like the unusual pieces of tender that seem to be still in circulation.

I have one also. Can I go to Fort Knox or wherever and demand my 1 dollar in Silver?? After all it says directly on it that "the bearer of the certificate is entitled to 1 dollar in silver on demand".

I guess so. But I just saw that silver is trading at about 10 dollars an ounce, so I guess the dude at Fort Knox will just give you a scrape off of one of the silver bullions he's got stashed away behind the big heavy door.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Dave was right about these posters with fewer than 100 posts.

Fort Knox is a gold depository.
