I just spoke with Hottub and he said that he dislocated his shoulder today (he wasn't drinking) while putting some stuff in the basement (that's what kids these days are calling it). He said he is hopped up on the meds and in a bit of pain.

Now the story may be told.

MsTub was going to have a bunch of her girlfriends over for drinks, chat and merriment. I was helping her tidy up. We decided the fireplace in the back room would be much nicer than the stupid space heater.
So being the helpful guy I am, I grabbed the space heater and proceeded to bring it to the basement. I guess I misjudged by a step or 2 and went for a tumble. Sad part is I wasn't even drinking, so no excuse. At that point I went into shock for only 1 to 2 minutes.

I came upstairs and said I think I really hurt myself. She noticed right away that my right arm was 3 or 4 inches longer than it was a minute ago. I moved my left hand from my shoulder, and the ball of the shoulder was around where my bicep should be.

Yada yada. Kids to the neighbor's. Call the ambulance, and off to the hospital.

OK, you have to take off your clothes and put on this gown.
WHY? It's my shoulder, you can see it from here, plus I can't move my arm!
We can cut the shirt off.
GO SCREW! you are not cutting my nice shirt. NO GOWN for me!

The nurse came in. We want to give you some morphine to ease the pain.
NO! Let me see a Dr. first. I finally get a Doctor. It looks dislocated. Let me see if I can pop it back in.
Excruciating pain. No luck.
Dr. - "You sure have a high tolorance for pain"
Tub - "I've been married to her for 13 years"
Hilarity ensues.

OK, give him the Morphine so we can take the X-rays. They may as well have given me Pez. The pain I endured for the X-rays was unbelievable.

Suprise suprise. I popped the shoulder out of the socket.
Give him some Dilaudin and Valium. I'll try again in a few. If this doesn't work, we gotta put you under.
They added the cocktail to my IV and I started tripping.
Doc - "I think we should put you out."
Me - "I ain't getting more beautiful than this. Go for it."
After a few minutes of finessing, I felt the gratifying pop. It was back home.

When it was done, I felt nauseous, was having a pretty bad trip and wanted to go. They said stay and chill. I said get the the fuck out of here.
The wife pulled up the car. I managed to get in. We didn't even make it out of the parking lot. I yelled stop. Got out and fertilized the lovely shrubbery. Puking, heaving, the whole 9.
I spent the rest of the night on the couch, in and out of conscienceness. I took a few calls and texts from well wishers. Then passed out.

The worst pain in my life.

When i was younger I had a double compound fracture that i dont remember much from. So i am sure they gave me something. I was in the local ER and the doc had to pull my arm out or something. From that room about four rooms or more away through a couple set of doors my mom heard me scream. I was about 6 maybe younger though. That year I broke my right arm three times. Then after that they thought i had problems. I had to go to a specialist for a marrow test. the next worst thing in my life.
